Another one bites the dust

Update:

take note of this because I think it will help a lot of you that have these random gremlins. They found a loose ground wire in the rear of the cab. Once it was tightened up my codes cleared and all modules came online. They are monitoring batteries to ensure there is 0 drain over the next couple days and I’m hoping I’ll be good to go. Looks like they had to do intricate detail testing to find the issue.
Poor grounds are often the cause of strange electrical issues that come and go. I do find it odd that customers are seeing loose grounds. Seems like an engineer at the plant needs to investigate what’s going on. This also may be coming from a supplier as well.

I am 100% convinced that it depends on the shift your truck was made on. They run the plant 24/7 with 3 crews on 12hr shifts.
About a third of the trucks have issues...that tells me one of these crews is putting out shit work.

Dont be surprised.

My buddy had a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500.

It had all of these exact same ram style electrical problems. One day were driving down the freeway, cluster turns off. Next day were parking and the steering rack locks up completely. Electronic assisted steering that year. Nav random reboots, stereo and calls turn off randomly. They tore the entire car apart of weeks. Later they found a ground in the engine bay and frame locations that had both been painted over and not cleaned.

He went through a new harness, new head units, new clusters, new steering parts, all before they found this LOL. Truck ran flawless for 90k miles after that.

Thanks for sharing this, could save some of us a lot of frustration down the road.

Would love to know where that specific ground was located though. After crawling around the back of the cab with the seats removed last week installing an amp and subwoofer I can say there are a lot of grounding points in the rear of the cab, many pretty well hidden.

But great outcome for you and great potential culprit for the rest of us to keep in mind before we lay up the truck for blind parts swapping.

Hope you can enjoy the truck now!

Well, I was finally able to get a video of my loose fuse box. It happened again today, so I took advantage of it. May my frustration be your enlightenment.

I’m having the same exact issue with my truck, both batteries died and the truck had to get flatbed tow to the dealer in Somerville NJ. Truck has 119 miles on it and I only owned it for a month.

So got my truck back from dealership..

Both batteries replaced. Starter replaced. ESM (electronic shifter module) replaced.

Truck runs great, no issues EXCEPT for one lol
Now the blinkers don’t make any noise or clicking anymore. They work but zero noise. So unless you look at your dash, you won’t they’re on. Any suggestions??

No doubt you’re not lying, but why your truck and not others?

Here I go @Eighty , the unions allow drug use and such regardless of performance.

Hmmm

With all this info, it seems that forfeiting $1K and going with another brand is the smarter decision.

The Rho sounds like the 2013 Lexus GS all over again.

Did you ride the “short bus”.

Just curious for statistical purposes.

This started happening after participating in the December off road truck event. I hit the jump about 10mph higher than I should've, the landing was pretty rough and the truck lost power immediately after landing. I'm not sure if this landing caused issues with the fuse box. I added some off road proven zip ties to it and it seems to be good. I'll find out next weekend when I go jump it again.

I've attached the video, you can hear the engine cut off right after landing.
