Another one bites the dust

Here's a video of the jump prior to the one where my power cuts off on the truck.

You can still hear the exhaust note in this one unlike in the video in the previous post.

To me, neither jump looked above the RHOs capability but glad you found out the issue. Just wish someone from Ram was actually looking at our forum that could institute change.

I agree, it was just luck of the draw.

Kill me now. They’ll take a week..
Not what we like to hear. Know we're still here to help with an otherwise frustrating situation so you can get back to enjoying your vehicle!

Are you still going the DOMO event next Saturday?

Update. Got it back yesterday. Appears to be fixed. Runs and drives like a dream.
new update. Truck ran perfect for 6 weeks. Went out Sunday to a dead truck. Like.... super dead. Wife's car wouldn't jump it. Neighbors 2000A jump box wouldnt jump it. I bought a 2500A Schumaker jump box from walmart. That did jump it. (everyone in this forum should have one.) Battery would only go up to 13.6v when running/idling. I had already scheduled the tow truck for monday morning so kept that. Tow driver jumped it monday morning to put it on the tow truck. Went up to 14.1V. Dealership is on day 3. Hoping they touch it today. Fingers crossed its just 2 bad batteries. Weird that it was fine saturday morning when I drove it and in 24 hours it went completely dead. Main battery tested at 11.8 V and the Aux battery tested at 5.8V

Thanks for the jump box tip. I’m always concerned after parking at remote trailheads about the truck not starting. Hasn’t happened…yet. Can you imagine the tow bill for a service truck to drive 18 miles over rough dirt roads?

I wish folks would simply trickle charge these things overnight after getting fresh batteries. I know, I know…you shouldn’t have to do this in an $80K truck. But what’s your aggravation worth?

I’ve seen defective bad batteries, blown PCM fuse arrays and bad PCMs reported as the cause of dead batteries, but none of those things can be avoided or fixed by trickle charging.

Has anyone actually had parasitic drain issues? If so, what was staying energized and what was the fix?

I think it just the technology of all the electronics now a days. Just bought a 2026 HD Street Glide Custom on Saturday and was told because of the electronics in it make sure to put a trickle charger on it.🫤

I might have even said it on this thread, but I would absolutely turn off proximity wake. It is always hunting for the key and, at least at my home, would turn on all the time when our keys were not even close imo.

Chris

can anyone explain the point of proximity wake up?

My 2024 HD stays plugged in year round...Battery tender is only $35ish

I use a Ctek…really, really well engineered…but closer to $200.

Since my truck gets parked inside, the fire prevention safeguards on the Ctek are worth it for my situation.

Plus, it gets really hot in AZ garages. I emailed the Ctek engineering team with my unit’s temp readings (like 137 degrees at peak charge rate) & they responded within 30 minutes & said my temps were well below what the unit was designed to withstand.

Engineered & made in Germany.

Got it back yesterday. New batteries. Including factory batteries this is now the 3rd set I’ve had since October. Let’s see how long these last 🙄

My 3rd set lasted for almost a year, until I sold the truck. The batteries were charged nightly, though.
