Exposed Wires Underneath Truck - Is This Normal?

We probably shouldn't derail the thread on a union discussion, but I have to say that I have a personal problem with them. They make my life miserable. I'm in an open-shop market (and always have been), but the unions have tried multiple times to try to organize my crews by making BS promises and using Gestapo tactics. Literally, like sending people to dig through my trash dumpsters for discarded paperwork that they can use to their advantage. Fortunately, my guys have seen through the lies.
That, and there are certain places that I can't do work due to union contracts. They get a strangle-hold on a location, and shut down any semblance of competition. As a southerner, I can see why the northern union-strong markets are dying.

EDIT: And the worst part about it? The unions can't provide enough people up north, at least not in my business (construction). So when asked, I occasionally send some of my more trusted people up there, who have never gone through the union apprenticeship programs, to fill in. They have to sign into the unions, pay all the BS dues, and are rubber-stamped as journeymen. They get the work done, and come home. Who ultimately benefits here? The union coffers. They rake in the dollars, while pretending to provide training and life-long programs. It's all a sham.

I thought we were on opposite ends but it seems we are on the same page.

I'm telling you, maybe this is where ALOT of these trucks were getting hung up waiting to pass inspection. It looks like some of them had to have harnesses opened and checked.

Looks like they had a batch of wire looms that were too short and they just said fuck it. Thankfully that's all it is, and it's an easy fix to get those exposed wires some protection from the elements

I'm telling you, maybe this is where ALOT of these trucks were getting hung up waiting to pass inspection. It looks like some of them had to have harnesses opened and checked.

The first picture of the thread definitely looks like the wires were pulled apart. Perhaps to test for continuity or shorts

Thank you RPR, crazy how ours look pretty much the same with a bunch of uncovered wires exposed to the elements under vehicle. Very interesting how this issue is across multiple trucks that went out the door.

Mine is 2026 level 0 that I picked up the end of the month in November.

I don’t like how these wires, drivers side rear, are exposed. I taped them up with some electrical tape to protect them. I’m surprised they don’t have a proper backshell on that connector, as others do have a backshell.

Definitely no bueno.....Im sure with technology...they can figure out who didn't do their job, but thanks to unions, there would be no repercussions.

Yep. Wire harnesses are all fabricated outside of the plant. Assembly folks are just snapping them into place if that. Most of the harnesses come pre assembled to whatever ‘module’ is being installed. To me, assembly plants are very interesting places to visit/tour.

On the early early trucks, there was an issue with some of the wiring harnesses that were too short. When connected they pulled really tight and stressed the harness and connectors causing shorts and pulled pins.
Seems there are still some that are a little too short, and rather than scrap those harnesses, they unwrapped some sections to free up length.
