Exposed Wires Underneath Truck - Is This Normal?

Sourcing to China for wire harnesses is crazy. With the CCP aggressive attempts to break into the US Market (as well as others) I cannot help but think it’s in their best interest to produce cheap subpar work. It entices US manufacturers to go lowest cost while creating reliability issues, harming the brand. If Stellantis continues to outsource harnesses the least they can do is design a test stand to check a few harness from every batch. And if they are already doing this, they need to improve the current system.

Well. I best get out and check my 26 / delivered in Late Jan. That’s brutal. Like seriously WTF? Are there not assembly line inspectors? I know nothing about the car manufacturing business but you’d think someone has to check this shit out

Well. Brutal!

I see a recall in Rams future. That can’t be good.

Same…I’ll just wrap it in a bit. Wondering if it was taped incorrectly?

add that to the class action for the digital
Key issue. Wonder what else is wrong? When it’s not -27 I’ll crawl under and do a detailed looky.

Whelp, it was an easy fix, popped it from the frame and wrapped it with enough 3M electrical tape to probably upset any tech that needs to get in there.

I’m sure it’s not waterproof in the most meaningful terms, but any water forging and torrential downpours shouldn’t see water enter where previously it was wide open to the elements.

And just used this to pop it off the frame and kinda shake for any moisture.

Nice job! Looks good to me.

Yep, I’ll be doing this same thing today.

Did the "repair" and my wife takes the truck and it throws a P2188 code...coincidence? Ugh

I cleared it and will see if it comes back. Not driving any differently.

That code generally means you're running too rich (too much fuel or not enough air). Maybe this was a hidden air intake, and you just taped it shut :D

Build 11/2024. I guess they run out of tape at some point 🤣

Is it me, or does that tape wrap look like it's been stretched? I wonder if these wire ducts are being installed fully tight, but are slipping back (or getting pulled back) somehow.

That is what I was thinking while I was under there. I am tempted to go back under and unbolt the holder that isnt even installed right(see my pic above) to see if they drilled a seperate hole instead of using the produced one.

Well I cleared it, beat the crap out of it....drove it regularly for a while and then let it idle for 10 minutes with no codes.

However when you clear that code...it resets the emission testing and that isnt complete yet. I forget how long that takes to occur.

Here is mine. Driver side good. Passenger side exposed. Also the other exposed wires are my power running boards. Looks like a harness is already cracked and have exposed wires on both sides.

Yeah that is interesting. I can't see how they didn't drill another hole unless the original
One is big/elongated
