Flash update, 400hp

So just to be clear if you recently had your truck flashed they may have flashed it with the wrong software and its now limited to 98mph and only 400hp? And RAM hasn't fixed this for the owners getting them their full 540hp and reg top speed of 118mph back?

Can anyone confirm if this is actually true. This sounds crazy lol

Okay, just because it says 400hp doesn’t mean it actually is. Would be good to time a 0-60 and/or get a dyno if someone’s computer is showing this.

Surely you’d also feel the difference. Coming from a 395hp Hemi to my HO was a massive difference.

Good point. Maybe one of the forum members can confirm in Mexico if they really are limited to 98mph and do a 0-60 run because if the truck went from 540 to 400 we'd see a difference in the numbers.

Also curious if this IS true would a jb4 or Diablo resolve it anyway.

I got flash update recently and truck still shows over 500hp, it feels little slower though but I bet it's just me

From what I remember from one of Facebook posts by a RAM tech, truck that have faulty CAT's get flashed with different software that will prevent them to go bad again .. not 100% verified if this is true .. but feels like when I got iPhone 15 Pro MAX and it would get so hot I coudn't touch the screen, then with an update they reduced it's performace - but the performance was the first thing that was advertised when I was buying it :D :D
Just had both my cats replaced in June & my truck still tops out at 120mph. Now if they reflashed my ecu idk, cause the paperwork from the dealership doesn't say anything about it. 🤷🏾

Well shit now I’m concerned. I can still hit 118mph but my best 0-60 time lately has been around 5.6. I just got back from 9 days in Hawaii yesterday afternoon and not my truck won’t start so I’m guessing batteries…again. So back to the dealer I go and now I’m wondering if I’m gonna fall victim to this “detune”. I just got final documentation to wrap up my GM lemon law case…I don’t want to go through this shit again…..

Is that "horsepower" number even real or is it just some kind of gimmick or estimate based off speed? How the hell is the software/engine measuring its own horsepower, lol? To my knowledge, that's impossible and is not even a thing.

Yea see that would drive me nuts. My friend has a 23 raptor base 450hp/510tq and it does 0-60 on draggy 5.2 sec confirmed. Why would the rho with 90hp more be slower unless something is off.

Hopefully gets sorted fast. All these weird software issues suck.

Can someone post a picture of their hp gauge at 500+? Would be good to have for our service reps.

Holy shit this is absolutely ridiculous. It's one thing after another with these trucks.

Why would Stellantis detune trucks in an update? It makes no sense.

This. I realize every platform has issues but with ram its really a mess and there's like no feedback from ram on the RHO issues. Just radio silence. You'd think there would at least be a rep on the forum like most car forums have. Im close to canceling and either getting a raptor and goosetune it or maybe pony up and just get a used trx or raptor r.

Yeah exactly, we are all on here just basically guessing and trying to figure out things on our own. Meanwhile, absolutely no official statements from Ram (not just on this issue, but seemingly on every issue so far). My order is in production right now, and I really really hope they have all this shit figured out for the 2026 MY. I also understand that every platform has its issues as well, but the truck has been out for over a year now. They're running out of excuses.

What is the best way to determine this? What is the firmware that is causing this? Was it an over air update or a flash from the dealer? Sorry, I’m new to this

There was a point during my order phase where I got to this same place. I persevered and haven’t had any of these major issues reported. I don’t write posts about how awesome this truck is often… which I suppose is why the narrative looks so negative everywhere you go looking.

I’m not convinced at this point that these trucks are only running at 400hp. I’m far more convinced this is a minor SW bug, until someone proves it wrong.

100% agree with everything you just said

Trust me I want to believe this but bret getting 5.6 on his 0-60 (granted road conditions and so on can play a factor) but thats odd that it would be slower than a base 450hp raptor unless there was some major hp missing right?

Not necessarily. I saw one guy who said his truck bogged down and wouldn’t shift between gears after putting his truck into sport mode. He thought sport mode was initiated by hitting a paddle once… and the truck didn’t shift because he didn’t paddle shift up at redline. User error.

Many other posts about gears not shifting on WOT, even one guy had a transmission replaced and many trucks sat in the shop for an extended duration. Finally they all figured out the common thread was they’d all lifted their front end without adjusting link length. Again, sadly, user error.

In both cases, Ram got chastised around for their crappy build quality.

If we have someone who was getting 4.6ish prior and clearly knows how to launch their truck, and now getting 5.6, I agree that would be concerning… but let’s collect some more information before hanging Ram out to dry.

Ok fair points we will put the rope down for now.
