Flash update, 400hp

She still rips, even with the atrocious DA

Welp… went to go test my 0-60 and got a flashing CEL. Truck is idling rough and has codes for misfire on every cylinder. It also backfired in 1st and 2nd gear so stopped, then flashing CEL.

Unreal

It will barely stay running and shut off on me twice. Going to need the dealer to tow it in….

I’m guessing your cats are on their way out.

I have the latest software update as of 2 weeks ago. Got my HP meter up to 403…HA! It’s just a computed estimate based on RPM & throttle position. We have the wrong map in the latest flash.

How do I know? Boost gage is not a computed estimate. It’s an actual reading. Got it up to 28 psi, for just a moment. Temps high here today (105+), so ECU is limiting boost to 26-27 psi. Not a big deal.

It is comforting that there are good knowledge members on the forum like this though. Hope he gets his truck sorted soon if it is the cats. Seems the factory may have had a bad batch when those were being built.

I’m so pissed, but at the same time I love this truck, how is this normal? My wife just told me to get it fixed, sell it and buy a 24 HC Durango..

Tow truck from roadside has been scheduled.

I thought about the hc durrango and even a bmw x5m but my area gets a lot of flash floods and storms / snow and so on. Id feel much more secure in a truck with big 35s rather than a performance suv with 20/21/22 inch rims and thin sidewall tires picking up every nail and debris the road has to offer. Hope its a quick turn around for you then smooth sailing.

Mine saying 400hp as well, only was able to pull a 5.4 0-60 as well

Could be weight full tank maybe a passenger mixed with hot temps and bad road conditions. Could be a ton of reasons. Only way you'd know if power is missing was toss her on a dyno.

What were you able to get for a 0-60 prior to the flash?

Whats your elevation and ambient temp?

Trying to assess if this is a change for you or this is your normal.

Mine just got flashed for misfires/flashing CEL too, now I'm going to try to find a way to check... Super bummed, I wonder if the local dealership would pay me close to what I bought it for at MD.

Best was 4.7. I'm still getting max boost, and the truck feels the same... but is it!?!?

May be a bad batch of cats…BUT, my latest software update…the service advisor read it to me. It was supposed to address an unspecified problem with the cats.

We all know what the unspecified problem is…now, what did they do to our tune to save the cats? I don’t think any tuning issues are restricting the HP gage…that’s just a screw-up on their mapping.

But, they may be limiting boost under more conditions…or, softening the ramp up of boost? Just guessing here.

First oil change at dealer about a week ago, as per them all updates available are done. Never ran anything other than 93, figured I'd drop that little nugget and watch the thread implode.
Your graph Y axis differs from mine.

I do believe that's false as well - As Dwight Shrute says ... However what poster rhofan brought up does kind of make sense and that is concerning. His statement is below - curious as to your thoughts on that. I don't like the sound of limiting boost under conditions I WANT MORE BOOST!! lol

I'm just avoiding the dealer for things, instead I'm going to a local non-dealer shop to perform fluid changes, maintenance, etc...I don't trust the dealer or RAM at this point. My truck is hitting every measurement normally even in TX heat, no issues, no CEL, and I'm north of 2000 miles now.

The bad batch of CATS is valid, and that is what I'm thinking is limiting performance output, not a flash.

I hate dealerships also. All my cars I ever had Corvette / GTR and so on I always preferred finding a quality speed shop that I trusted. I didn't mind paying a little extra if it was peace of mind and I knew the car was with people that actually had a passion for that platform and more importantly knowledge on the car. My dad bought a new RAM 1500 Lamarie and talking with one of the dudes in service I mentioned that I had an RHO on order that I was excited for. His reply was what's an rho? lol
