Flash update, 400hp

Not necessarily. I saw one guy who said his truck bogged down and wouldn’t shift between gears after putting his truck into sport mode. He thought sport mode was initiated by hitting a paddle once… and the truck didn’t shift because he didn’t paddle shift up at redline. User error.

Many other posts about gears not shifting on WOT, even one guy had a transmission replaced and many trucks sat in the shop for an extended duration. Finally they all figured out the common thread was they’d all lifted their front end without adjusting link length. Again, sadly, user error.

In both cases, Ram got chastised around for their crappy build quality.

If we have someone who was getting 4.6ish prior and clearly knows how to launch their truck, and now getting 5.6, I agree that would be concerning… but let’s collect some more information before hanging Ram out to dry.

Excuse me what? Having my transmission replaced was user error on my part? Multiple folks had their transmission replaced for no reason. We figured out the issue on our own because we were tired of acting as R&D for RAM while our trucks rotted at the dealership for weeks without resolution.

I like my truck but at the same time I completely acknowledge these RHOs are plagued with issues, more than any other platform I have owned.

It’s the massive disconnect between the consumer and customer support that bothers me and many others. At least Ford monitored the forums and would literally reach out to Bronco owners who posted issues. It wasn’t perfect but it was something.

Well, did you modify your front suspension which caused the issues like he had said? If that's what caused the issue, then yes- it's user error.

If you didn't modify the truck, then you absolutely have a point.

I'm not saying that it's reasonable that the aftermarket modification caused that issue, but if the truck performed properly from the factory, it's not really Rams fault. Unfortunately, almost all modern vehicles are so complex and heavily reliant on tech/the computer system that modifying suspension (or anything really) can cause issues. I feel like this is pretty common knowledge.

Is that "horsepower" number even real or is it just some kind of gimmick or estimate based off speed? How the hell is the software/engine measuring its own horsepower, lol? To my knowledge, that's impossible and is not even a thing.
I'm guessing it's based off of airflow, RPM and manifold pressure but it's just a guess... Whatever it is, it's going to be algorithm driven and not an actual "real" number.

Exactly right. Maybe the flash installed the SO algorithm? No real change to the engine output, just the display logic.

This. I realize every platform has issues but with ram its really a mess and there's like no feedback from ram on the RHO issues. Just radio silence. You'd think there would at least be a rep on the forum like most car forums have. Im close to canceling and either getting a raptor and goosetune it or maybe pony up and just get a used trx or raptor r.
I would 100% cancel if I was you.

We don't do that here. A bunch of reactionary emotional PMS guys. Hysteria now, gather facts later.

When my truck first hit 500 miles, I was able to get down into the 5-5.7 range on qtr mile, didn’t pay much attention to the HP chart. I tried a 0-60 this morning but was only able to get a 8.4 sec qtr mile. I am guessing heat may have a little to do with it, it is over 100 heat index and very humid down in Florida. I will try it again in cooler temps at night and see if I can get a little better times. Despite the lower times, I am still able to do over the 98 mph limit that some have been getting.

If you haven't lost a clip off a wastegate or melted some cats, you should never be as slow as an 8.4 0-60 time. (I assume you meant that and not 1/4 mile) A damn stock 2015 Cummins 2500 can run 8.4.

🤔8.4 second quarter mile? That’s incredibly fast

I wish I could do a 8.4 qtr mile, my 0-6 would be much faster. In my previous post I meant 8.4 0-60, not qtr mile.

First oil change at dealer about a week ago, as per them all updates available are done. Never ran anything other than 93, figured I'd drop that little nugget and watch the thread implode.

36 horsepower?? Wow, I'm canceling my order.

My first few launches when I bought the truck in April were 4.8's and that was without really knowing how to properly use launch control. I've also experienced where I would engage LC and rev up then as soon as I let my foot off the brake, the RPMs just dropped and it canceled launch. My RHO is bone stock (although I have an AFE exhaust sitting in the garage) so no lift, no tuner, nothing that's not as it was the night I drove it home from the dealer, save the bed cover.

Also, my batteries have already been replaced once last month. No mention of a software update on my invoice so unless they did it and didn't tell me.....

Yes yes we get it matt. You get pissy whenever someone says something negative but we're only reacting to things owners post. Dont take it personally. I want the truck to be awesome.
I want it to be awesome for you. I'm rooting for you.

I went out and did another test run, was able to get down to 5.6 0-60 and boost was up to 28psi. The HP still only reached around 400 on the chart, I’m guessing it’s still making the power just a glitch in the matrix causing it to not show accurately.

Just sucks because is it, or are we just assuming. I want to see the 500hp. I havent driven WOT since I created this post because of rainy weather. But I am curious what my truck says.

Welp… went to go test my 0-60 and got a flashing CEL. Truck is idling rough and has codes for misfire on every cylinder. It also backfired in 1st and 2nd gear so stopped, then flashing CEL.
