BTW, insurance does not “pay NADA”. They use a service that locates near identical vehicle retail sales & asking prices of available vehicles in your market area & compiles the data for a reasonable offer. Can’t remember what the service is called, but it’s fair to the insured. Still, a brand new vehicle typically takes its biggest depreciation hit 1st year.

There are no absolutes when it comes to theft protection, but you can stop amateurs. As a claims adjuster, I remember a case with a brand new “unstealable” Mercedes S600 in the late 90s. Owner was a very wealthy financier…not an inside job. The garage was even gated, controlled by unique coded transponders. But, it got stolen.

My concern is parking my truck at remote trailheads for hours at a time. I’m guessing professional thieves are not going to be waiting in these locations or scoping it out at trailheads. But, tire/wheel thefts or glass break-ins for personal property are the biggest risks.

BTW, the Mc Guard wheel locks Ram provided on my truck (maybe every truck gets them…IDK) are junk. The mating surface does not match the wheel exactly & could actually cause damage. Has anyone found a superior option for our wheels?

I nearly got car jacked in a drug store parking lot for my R/T 1500 reg cab. Did some evasive driving. Had no idea what was happening. Just figured some guys in a Suburban blocked the aisle by accident. There was another couple guys in a station wagon close behind me. All of them looked like our hard-working neighbors from across the border (no judgement).

Got past them & parked in the next lot. Went into the drug store & the clerk said, “You almost got car jacked.” He was going to call the police, but the jackers didn’t stick around.

Strange how it happened so fast. Apparently, that parking lot was a frequent site for car jacking. The aisles were narrow & the thieves had multiple escape options to I10.

Posted this in another thread. Don’t leave the key in the truck! This was at our ranch 3.4 miles from the main road and 3/4 of a mile from the gravel road. Two hours after unloading the truck went outside to shut the tailgate and or secure the vehicle before bedtime. Wrecked out about 75 yards from the house.Mid Feb RHO should be here

It's better than nothing, but I wouldn't use it. Relay kill switches are a very common DIY thing (second to the PTS kill switch), so thieves will immediately hone in on it. Heck, many of them carry extra starter/fuel pump relays because of this. All they have to do is pop the hood, open the fuse box cover, and see the obvious relay with a wire attached to it. Pull it out, replace it with their own (or just snip the wire and ground it themselves), and they're gone with your truck.
I would generally say that you should avoid solutions that tell the entire internet how their system works. The thieves themselves may be idiots, but the crime rings that set them up are pretty sophisticated - and they watch the internet for stuff like this.

Anything with a manual switch is garbage and the people stealing them know it. Only so many places you can hide it in reach of the driver. Do it correctly

Ill figure something out....if it makes them take time...by then they will have moved on or met a piece of lead traveling faster than the speed of sound.

I think I'm just going to install 3m Security glass tint, a bright motion activated LED strobe inside, and a cutout sign that goes in the gauge cluster that says "Smile, I'm about to shoot you in the head with an AR15."

Suppressed 300BO, death will be silent. On my setup with a hydraulic buffer tube and subsonic ammo the only real noise is the casing hitting the ground.

Straight down the hill and slammed into that pole that was concreted in. The tow truck company that came up to get it from the town I live in didn’t think they would total it. But they did.

Well, I shortened the video, I was trying to get him to believe that I had a gun while I was standing at the door. Never thought stepping outside and closing my tailgate that I would need a pistol. I just kept my arm to the right behind the door hoping he would believe me and that I was crazier than him. Wasn’t sure if he had one or not. He just went into fight or Flight mode, and obviously flew. Probably wasn’t smart for me to jump in after him, but that’s adrenaline for you. Agg robbery charge though. We found him.

I have a honey badger but hates frt’s. Runs great as is though.

Its a badass gun, one of a kind and best 300 blk by a mile. So light and quiet. You arent the first person thats said their badger doesn't like the FRT. Ill be converting mine to full auto once I have my 07/02 sot in the near future .

Ive talked with a few buddies with 07-02 that converted their hb to full auto and just takes 3rd postion trigger, stiffer buffer spring and some machining on the piece between the buffer spring and bolt carrier. They are too soft from the factory for full auto and the bolt bounces.

I have around 30 AR’s in a dozen calibers and another 300bo build that likes frts so not too worried about it. Probably 25+ frts total so not too worried about one bad apple
