Is the RHO too wide ?

I connected with another dealer and hopefully can test another late this week/early next.

Will report back.

Im torn - I ultimately think I will go the new RHO route - but order now or wait? Just hate the idea of ordering something only for it to arrive in Nov/December when it will just sit in the Northern Ohio snow for 3 or 4 months. If I wait until Nov/Dec - should be here in March/April when the weather is better.

Need to get back to NC where winter isn't so much of a season and more of a single snow event annually. 6 months of dull and gray here it feels like.
I grew up in WI, but I live in TN now. I know exactly what you mean. It's nice that the winters are so mild.

The truck is a damn machine in the snow. I live in Wisconsin and i watch the forecast and purposely to go out in snow because it’s so fun. It’s actually so good saved me from a massive pile up on the interstate . Cars in front and behind me piling up, ford fusion did a 180 right next to me and slid into a sierra. I managed to keep control, swerve around and out before the cars piling up behind me ran into me. I stand my the truck saving my finance and i from being in it. It just stays planted.

So was 98% sold on the RHO yesterday and ready to order - but decided to go and test one with the Mrs at a local dealer to be certain and get her take.

Well - sadly it did not go well.

Dealer - who is not one I have been to before but up the street from where we were going for lunch and both convenient and responsive to my inquires for a demo was a fairly chaotically packed small lot. I mean literally no place to park/move on their lot with cars just packed in as tight as possible. Not a great way to experience a vehicle, especially a larger truck. To make matters much worse - this truck had issues. Paint issues, poor fitting moldings and some sloppy fitting interior pieces - just very basic things that should never have left the factory and certainly should have been corrected by the dealer prior to putting it on the lot. Did not make a good impression on the Mrs and she was far from impressed - actually I was kind of left questioning the QC as well and considering the investment involved in a new truck - made me question ordering something for a minute as the inevitable "what if it happens to me" popped in my head knowing returning to the selling dealer wouldn't be an option and lemon law buybacks are a rough road.

But the one thing that really struck me was the size difference in width. Technically it's 6" wider than a 1500 - but seems so much more. Of course we were not side by side with a 1500 and the cramped lot made it seem so much more. Is it really that much more difficult to park/maneuver around ?

Wife is pushing me to get a Rebel..I am not against it, just feels like for the slight price difference between a loaded up Rebel and the RHO - the RHO has an advantage of being more unique and likely holding resale advantage. Wife also thinks I should look at a Tacoma - to which I have said a firm no - yes they are sporty looking, but the cab is just way too damn uncomfortable and to me its a young (and skinny) mans truck. I am by no means ready to settle into a full on luxury SUV posing as a truck - but I still want a few of the luxuries while maintaining the sporty/off-road appearance.

Guess I check out a Rebel and possibly another RHO at another dealer - preferably one with a lot where I can test things a little more. This was far from a great place to test and the clunking sound going into drive was far from re-assuring on this one.
you should try mark dodge https://www.markdodge.net/

everyone on the 5th gen forum that has used mark has had good results.

Have you tried a prius? Might be more fitting

We rented a 1500

FWIW, we rented a '26 1500 Hurricane SO limited and drove it 300 miles mixed highway and city. Get the dealer to side-by-side for you and take them both for a spin. The rental had jiggle and buck, I hated the body roll at 80 mph on the highway. The RHO bucks, but she doesn't jiggle. Felt way more planted, and after I kick these Goodyears off I think it'll settle in to my driving preference.

After getting in the RHO and looking at the sticker differences with on the lot 1500 packages, it was really a no brainer at the level 1 10k difference and 8k+ discount when we wanted the surround camera. By the time I spec'd out a kit to comfortably fit 35's on a 1500 it really made absolutely no sense to get anything other than the RHO w/10yr power train and no aftermarket suspension shenanigans.

Wide body makes it so you are the lane in most driving scenarios where I'm at...more of a blessing than a curse, people tend to get out of the way or stop. I've adopted the curb as an appropriate designated parking line after a lifetime of 35's, the parking police have yet to object. Most garages are totally fine w/7ft clearance and wide lanes, in-building high rises are no-go zones without knowing distances beforehand.

I took my wife my local dealership and I had her test drive a Rebel (Fully Loaded) and the RHO (Level One) and after driving both of them she was like not even close -- get the RHO......

They are on the list of dealers I would consider using.

Distance is the only issue - shipping ain't cheap these days.
I don't know where you are but I bought my RHO from Koons in Tyson's Corner, VA. The experience was seamless and their price was actually better than Mark. I'm not knocking Mark Dodge in the least, heard great things about them, but if Koons is closer give Brian a call.

I just ordered mine last week and I live in Central Ohio with family I visit often in NE Ohio. Also, sit in the snow for 3-4 months? Dude...unless you're current ride is a M1 Abrams tank...I think the RHO will do just fine in the winter. I'm defintely looking forward to not canceling visiting family due to a snow storm and traveling in a Honda Accord.

I ordered from Mark Dodge and it was very simple and smooth. Even if you pay to ship vs. driving it home, you're most likely going to save money compared to what you'll pay at an Ohio dealer.

Depends - figure the shipping is about 2 grand. That's not an unreasonable figure for dealer to make up locally.

I know Performance has a presence out there and is making deals.

My honest experience across many brands is Central Ohio is pretty damn competitive - especially if you get out of Franklin County and go towards Marion or Marysville. The relatively low max admin fee helps too ($398 now isn't it -used to be $250) - compare to the $1k id routinely see in NC from a Hendricks dealership.

Not saying Mark Dodge is a bad place to buy from or doesnt deliver a great experience. Just a reminder that shopping local can yield as good of savings - if not better with the same level of convenience and the benefit of supporting local business. There are plenty of areas of the country where buying from them or another high volume internet dealer is a good idea.

That is one dealer I dont even try these days.

Glad you had a good experience - but they burned me a while back on a Jeep for the Mrs - took the deposit on an on lot vehicle - then sold it the next day to a local. Claimed "another sales person stole the keys from my desk while I was off that day".

Told them fine - shit happens and im fine with it. Either order me one and sell at the exact price we agreed on or find me one with those options/color at that price and we are good. Sales manager called me back and bluntly said - we are not bound by the contract and are opting out - if you want to order one, its increased by 4k.

Won't be back - actually had several former coworkers in that part of DC - have heard many similar stories about the chain.

I ordered mine from Tysons as well...couldnt be happier. I'd do it again honestly

I’m not trying to convince you, but I’ll just show you an example. I live in Delaware. Checked out all the areas you mentioned. Here is the best performance could do while MD was $12,000 less than MSRP.

Similar to the RAM dealer I go to for service.

They are adding a $9,995 markup, plus mandatory dealer-installed accessories, to all RHOs. It's almost $12K in BS extra costs.
They still don't understand it isn't 2020-21 anymore.
Their service folks are great, but I would never buy a vehicle from them.

While Tuttle Click RAM in Irvine, CA, is offering at least 3% back on the invoice. Could be 5%, haven't checked lately...

Personally, the width of the truck WAS an issue for me. I know someone said, “If you can drive a truck…”

I think they were trying to say the RHO width extends your Willie. It does not.

While driving the RHO on any multi-lane roadway, I was constantly checking & adjusting my position within my lane. Something I’ve never had to do with a previous vehicle, including an HD Ram. In highway construction zones, it can get downright stressful.

As far as the Rebel, it lacks the fantastic “widebody look” of the RHO & costs nearly as much when equipped similarly. And, resale is not as strong.

As for quality, SHAP (where all 1500s are built) is a problem. RHO or Rebel, be prepared for sh#t, unless you get lucky. Are you a gambling man?

The Raptor is a good option…better drivetrain & suspension tuning, IMHO. Just a better driving vehicle, overall. But, the interior is not as nice & 17” wheels look tiny after getting used to the RHO look.
I don't have that issue or does my wife who is 5'5". And she is not concerned about extending anything unless its mine lol

...quality control is definitely an issue..and imo regarding the the comparison to the Raptor...the drivetrain of the RHO is superior in every, single, way....suspension...I have been told the Raptor is still superior but not by much...and then the Rap fails in looks, interior and wheel size.

When I ordered mine from Koons the msrp was 91,707. Went up to 91,907 during the process but they held the original number. Took 12,500 off msrp, paid about 79,000. Their doc fee is a bit higher than Mark Dodge tho.

My wife is a driver that I would call average at best and she handled my Raptor and now my RHO with ease. Parking can be a bit difficult at times but not remotely a deal breaker.

you could try the r ap tore its 1.5" slimmer on the width and may give you the edge you need to feel comfortable. those are also available 1-2% under invoice
