JB4 or Diablosport.. that is THE question

Not sure if this is a very valid or accurate data point for the CAT6, but I just raced a Tesla Model Y Long Range/Dual Motor twice from two stoplights, same result both times. Each brake boosted, sport mode, from a dig and was 4-5 car lengths ahead to 90mph each time. Keep in mind I had 1/2 of gas, a passenger, and I’m running heavy Mickey Thompson 36” tires on Vossen 18s. He had no passenger

I’m impressed overall ! Pulls hard up top !

Yes, 93 octane, always. Can't believe folks who have access to 93 choose to run 87 to save a little money, why get a RHO then anyway?
I mean, let’s say there’s a 10hp loss by saving 30% on fuel costs.

launch that thing and get us some hard 0-60 numbers compared to stock!

Best I ever got was 5.1 on the stock 35” tires, now I get consistent 4.5s with the CAT6 and 36’s. I need to try Baja mode because I think I could easily get 4.3-4.4 if I tried harder lol

Sounds to me like the Cat6 is leaving power on the table for 93 octane guys.

Maybe, in the app it says 93 for map 2 & 3. Even if it is, it’s still the best piggyback out there for times and it’s been throughly vetted.

Where are these time comparisons between Cat6 and JB4, Chris? I searched YouTube and really didn’t find much on the Cat6.

Is a Diablosport going to void my warranty?

Sounds like DS is the move. Saw a YT video that said the same thing.

That’s up for debate.

DS says it’s untraceable. People here on the forum say it can be found.

I take it off before service(takes about 10 minutes) and put it back on right after.

Knock on wood, no issues here.

I mean, it absolutely voids your warranty. If you show up for powertrain service with any of these things connected to your vehicle, you can plan on getting your claim denied.

Assuming something happens as a result of one of these, and you take it off before bringing it in for warranty service… at a minimum that’s a fraudulent claim. Beyond that, I suppose it’s an open question as to whether or not the truck senses this install and saved some code to indicate it even after removal.

I’m not advocating for or against it as we are the owners of these pieces of property. Do with your RHO as you will, but do so knowing there could be consequences.

You will never convince me that this computer on wheels doesn't somehow store boost history.

I’m sure it stores boost history. But the boost history that is stored is altered. Remember the piggyback module interrupts the signal and sends false lower values in order to “trick” the ECU. It may store higher than normal injector pulse duration times. Unless it has variable fuel pressure and can also trick it into higher fuel pressure

True and good point. I'm still firmly in the "if they want to look hard enough, they can find it" camp.

I don't think it matters though. These aren't intended for people who want warranty protection.

I do 🙋‍♂️😊

They can absolutely find info that points in the direction of modification. The thing is
They have to “prove” it was an aftermarket tuner and not just an overboost issue the truck caused. If the tuner is removed before service that’s a hard “prove”

But who knows.

Has anyone tested out a launch in Baja mode vs Sport mode?

If the transmission shifting is the same, the advantage of the softer Baja suspension mode may actually yield some gains since a softer suspension usually lets the vehicle hook better from a dig. Then again, even in sport mode, the suspension is relatively soft and forgiving. I just wonder if the shift and traction/slip logic is superior or not to Sport and if launch control works to its full potential without being in sport mode.

The transmission shifting seems much faster in Baja mode than sport, unless I’m mistaken- I need to try some 0-60s in Baja and see if that makes a difference

Does the transmission shift on its own in Baja? The one time I tried Baja, I had to use the paddles to shift. I left the transmission in “D”.

Yeah definitely shifted on its own for me
