JB4 or Diablosport.. that is THE question

Except for the 5th gen ACR Viper 😉

My wife and I have spoken about getting an ACR at some point...love Vipers!!

Chris

They are a manual transmission though...so there's that ;)🤣
Those are always fun! I did have a manual transmission 991.2 GT3 and it was awesome. The RS just wouldn’t feel right with one though, the PDK is absolutely amazing.

This thread has totally gone off the rails now hahahaha

That’s why DCT cars have paddles and in the case of the RS, a sequential style shifter option.. I’ve never let the car shift itself at any point lol

Back to the point. Are we saying JB4 (numbers don't lie, proven tuner) is still the route or does having pedal control place Cat6 (proven tuner, less hp/ add pedal control / someone had a chart showing them faster) in the lead? I haven't broke 500 miles, lifted, or gone 37s yet, but I'm prepping. Alabama has 93 errrrwhere.

So I have to say that when I had the Diablosport, it was a little bit more fun with the pedal commander built in but after installing the JB4 earlier this week, the truck pulls very hard on map2 and it’s noticeably quicker than when I had the DS on. I thought I was going to miss the pedal commander but to be honest, when I’m on auto and drive regular, I don’t mind the stock feeling of the pedal. It lets me cruise without always gassing it hard if you get what I mean. And when I do need the power quicker, sport mode changes that and the quickness of sport mode changes the pedal feel instantly, to me, so honestly I’m very happy now with the JB4.

I know Diablosport is a great tuner and it’s definitely proven (I’ve had the Diablosport Predator on my old big turbo 05 Srt) and it was amazing but for me, I like how the stock pedal feels during regular commute and the power the JB4 gives puts a smile on my face whenever I drive the truck.

Who is saying that? The performance times are the same or better for the DS so obviously someone is fibbing with their HP claims. Show me Dragy numbers proving otherwise. They’re not there.

JDMDC5’s butt dyno says the JB4 is quicker lol. Are you hinting that JB4’s dyno video may have inflated power gains?

To each their own, but the stock pedal blows compared to now having the DS with the throttle set to +3

It’s not even comparable to all to me. The DS woke the truck up big time with Map1 and only 91 octane but I couldn’t imagine going back the stock lazy throttle that makes the turbo lag feel so much worse.

Sport mode is not the solution. The throttle is better, sure, but it holds gears way too long. The throttle with the DS is perfect now and with the Auto mode Trans shift points, it’s perfection. Feels like a totally different truck even driving part throttle for every day driving, so you benefit 100% of the time vs only when flooring it like the JB4.

Again, as mentioned above, I did my research and saw Dragy numbers were actually better with the DS than then JB4. Butt dynos are not accurate lol

Installed my DS Cat6 yesterday, and let me tell you- it's absolutely worth the money!!!

I didn't care about just peak HP gains like the JB4 does, the lazy accelerator pedal was my biggest gripe. The fact this is an all-in-one tuner/pedal commander made it the right choice for me.

I have only used Map1 so far (only have 91 octane here in SoCal) and it feels like there's more power. Nothing crazy, but there's a difference.

The biggest difference is the way the pedal feels with the +3 setting. It feels like the turbo lag has been eliminated, and it just drives so well off the line now. No more needing to go into Sport mode to get better throttle response which makes the gears hold way too long.. just leave in Auto mode and you get the crispy throttle response with the right shift points.

Going from a TRX to this RHO, my biggest complaint was the off the line throttle and torque response.. this changed the game for me and it almost feels like there's more low end torque than my TRX had!

It's a must-have upgrade and I don't think I could go back to stock now.

If you decide to go JB4, you'll want to pair it with a Pedal Commander for sure.
Thanks for the update. I was torn between the two, but having the ability to loose the spongy peddle.

How’s it going everyone,

So now that I finally have my truck I definitely want to up the power on it. I’ve read good things on JB4 but also on the Diablosport Pulsar. I’ve ran Diablosport predator years back when I had my Srt4 and never had an issue with it so I know Diablosport is another proven platform, just like Burger Tuning.

Those of you with JB4, I think this platform gives more power than the Diablosport right? Or are they the same gains? Diablosport says for the HO you’ll see gains of up to 63whp.

Also looking at the installation videos for both, they both install similar but also a little differently on the Diablosport.

Which one would you guys choose? Trying to see what my best bang for buck is without actually having the motor go “bang” lol.
I just installed the Cat6, and in highest map and highest pedal map and in sport the tires chirped going into second any more HP and bigger Brakes will be needed. it was a big difference over stock.

Just in case someone interested in this numbers. My friend in Russian did a dyno run on stock rho and the numbers were 518-521 hp ( the shop was very impressed because all American cars usually dyno a lot lower from manufacturing provided numbers). Also the jb4 provided 87-88 hp gains on map 3. Torque gaines don't remember exact numbers but it produced almost factory numbers and better than jb4 claim with the unit.

Stock 0-60 5.4-5.5 seconds, jb4 0-60 4.4-4.5
Drug raced it few times with stock trx and trx was running consistent 4.3 seconds.

From previous experience their numbers usually.5 seconds off from factory publish numbers in their area and elevation.

Not too bad over all and he's happy with numbers before system can be cracked and properly tuned.

What octane did you run for that?

Impressive! I like seeing that the Dragy times still show the CAT6 on top ;) I could be biased though 😂

Is that with 91 octane?

I’m going to have to read back through threads but curious how these do on regular 91 pump gas. I don’t care to go any higher. Are the gains on 91 fuel impressive enough?

I’m so numb to the norm of buying 93…anyways, I’m leaning more now to Cat6 after having the truck and seeing how boring it is in auto vs sport with the pedal response. Great to have you all posting numbers. Can only be better for all in the future.

Yes, 93 octane, always. Can't believe folks who have access to 93 choose to run 87 to save a little money, why get a RHO then anyway?

Im on crappy 91 here and there’s still a big difference on Map 1. Im now running Map 2 which is for 93, but I feel a small increase in performance now.

Seeing that there are some weirdos out there running 87 octane on their trucks, I figure running a more aggressive map and letting the ECU pull timing when needed should be fine.

Biggest improvement is that throttle control though. I swear it drives better than my TRX did now, and has just as much if not slightly more low end and mid range torque at part throttle.

Anyone not running the Cat 6 is missing out big time, stock feels crippled now

Good to hear. I’m waiting until my dealer replaces the cadm module next week then put on the Cat 6 and AWE exhaust (when it arrives). Can’t wait. Luckily 93 is available almost everywhere near me.

I think I read somewhere that Diablo sport did all their tuning for each map, with 91
