Moving to TRX? Daily driver? Remember Tim’s words…

I daily drove my TRX and got 13.5 mpg. I daily drive my RHO and get 14. For how I use my truck (commuter) the 30k price difference is the driver, not mpg.

I was going to mention that myself. I think the 30k difference is a much bigger factor than the minor difference in MPG between the two.

I think in TFL Trucks video of the TRX reveal, the engineer mentioned this "newer" 777hp version of the 6.2 is actually more efficient than the previous 702hp version. So I'd guess that the MPG will be about the same as it always was in the TRX, even tough it now has 75 more HP

I think there was a car magazine that did a 40K mile test on TRX & the fuel bill was something like $16,200, over 2 years…at $4.40/gallon.

For those who say, you don’t deserve to drive a TRX if you ask about fuel economy, I’d say…sure, as long as you don’t mind paying big $$ for that sound.

I’m just saying, as a daily driver, it may not be the best choice for 95+% of the population. I concur with Tim K.

Great points.

I’m also thinking about build quality…doesn’t seem to be getting better…may get even worse as they add more variations to the production line (Ram REEV coming soon & maybe even a street oriented muscle truck).

Having my $100+K truck sitting on a dealer service lot for months, being driven by lot jockeys…not a great thought.

Don't forget that all the employees are going to be more disgruntled than usual, seeing as how they didn't get a bonus for 2025. UAW puts out a shitty product even when moral is high (no, you don't deserve $45/hour to install the same steering wheel into a vehicle over and over and over again). They tend to confuse themselves with skilled trade unions. This is absolutely not a knock on anyone working that job. It's an honest job, I'm just saying.

Doesn't worry me too much though, I'm 100% getting an extended warranty. With 777hp from the factory, there's absolutely zero reason to mod and void the warranty. I'm going to drive it like I stole it, and if anything blows up- they can fix it under warranty.

With gas prices ready to skyrocket, is anyone planning to buy a ‘27 TRX & use as a daily?

No idea how this war is going to play out, but guessing $5+/gallon Premium is coming (based on prior conflicts in the Middle East & resulting gas prices).

Tim K recently said TRX is not a good DD. His words might carry more meaning & soon. 10-14 MPG will get expensive fast if you rely on that truck for daily transportation.

It'll be a 2nd vehicle for us…driving on road trips & such…no more than 10K miles/year. So, I’m not worried…not worried at all…ha! But, I am thinking about it.
10-14mpg...maybe if its being pulled or drafting off another vehicle! haha This will be a 6-9mpg truck. My 22 TRX got 9mpg stock tuning on 35s and same conditions my RHO gets 13. If people can afford to buy this truck fuel economy wont be an issue. For me it will be the annoyance of a horrible range in a fuel tank that I am not interested in. I drove a family members 22 TRX the other day and was happy to give them the keys back. Didnt miss it. I think it will be fun with the new steering, tech, and power. I am looking forward to driving this new TRX with more power to see if I get the itch!

Man, all this talk of gas mileage and prices makes me want to go back to talking politics. 😵‍💫🤷🏻‍♂️
I use gas buddy app and try to just find local place with best price on fuel and fill up, I do not look anymore at what it costs per fill up. cant change it!

Lets really get everyone going….fuel prices aren’t that bad if you just run 87, 93 is a complete waste of money. Hell I used to run 87 in my trx 🤣

Not really. They marketed the RHO at 20 mpg. It was right there next to "digital key available"
Are you telling us you haven't gotten both of those features??!!!

Gas is always past $5gal where I live so bring it on and bring on the ‘27 SRT TRX 💪 🤠

When was the RHO marketed at 20mpg? My window sticker says 14/16 and 15 average.

They changed it after they got a bunch of sales on the made up numbers

Meh, I have a different perspective. If you can afford an over-built, baja-style truck that costs as much as the TRX, you really aren't too concerned about the price of gas. We don't buy these vehicles for fuel economy. Many of us have RHOs or Raptors in the past. None of these are fuel-efficient in any sense.

If you can afford the expensive ass truck, you can likely afford to put gas in it, regardless of the price. If you can't really afford an expensive truck and are financing most of it while struggling to make payments, you need something cheaper to start,

Except the most talked about topic is mpg and “CaN I rUn 87” so people do buy these and then complain about the mpg. And it’s me, I’m people. 😂

Exactly like their made up 0-60 number that around half the owners can actually hit?

I noticed that figure conveniently disappeared from their website too. Wonder why???

Meanwhile, people in TRXs routinely hit .5 seconds less than advertised. Whereas 50% of RHO owners hit .5 seconds more. So much for consistency in claimed performance stats, huh?

People around here were literally happy that they hit the advertised stock number after tuning 🤷🏻.

I feel validated they removed the number from the website. Turns out they too knew it was total bullshit.

Yes I'm beating a dead horse, so I digress.

Yep. $30k more and range in the low 300-miles is a no-go for me in any circumstance. I need to be able to drive from Denver to Albuquerque without refueling. No problem with RHO.

I daily my rho and I daily drove a TRX for 2 years. I would get 10.5 mpg in the winter(cold temps and "winter blend" fuel) and 12 in the summer. That's normal everyday driving. You want to get on the pedal, launch it, etc., that drastically changes those numbers. I drive about 30 miles a day. If I bought a TRX I would daily it. I get some people say its a waste of money or whatever but everyone has their thing, I enjoy driving these trucks, thats what I buy them for, and neither the RHO, TRX, or Raptor are good daily drivers from a financial perspective when it boils down to it. Could I buy a more fuel efficient vehicle thats more financially responsible? yes, but no one cares if you are the richest guy in the cemetery.
I can get 14-15 mpg in my RHO. Trouble is....I don't want to. I don't do the speed limit. I pay to drive in the express lane so I can go 10-15+ mph over the speed limit and not worry about traffic. One thing I have learned, though, is that with this truck....if you're in stop and go traffic....fuel economy is going to suffer regardless. Steady speed and throttle yields pretty decent fuel mileage, even at 80 mph. Is the constant low speed acceleration that kills fuels economy because it revs so high before the truck starts moving.

For me....fuel mileage isn't really that big of a deal. I don't like spending $90-$95/tank to fill up every 4-5 days but I pretty well knew that going into it. Truth is I actually have a 2012 Equinox that gets close to 30 mpg that I could be driving on my 60 mile round trip trek to and from work every day......I just wouldn't enjoy the drive at all. I already sit in Dallas traffic....the RHO makes that a lot more palatable. Even if fuel prices go up....and we all know they will because conflict is a great excuse to raise them and line the pockets of the elitists that control it....I will still daily my RHO. 11 months old and 19k+ miles and I've enjoyed every one!

Hahaaa oh shiiiiit didn’t realize they advertised that for the ‘25 models. Looks like a lawsuit to me hahaaa

I did test drive a RHO over the weekend while mine is lost in transit 🤣 It is a damn well made engine and transmission. I love everything about my RHO that is on order but after driving it I decided I cannot take delivery of it when it shows up. The extra HP of the TRX will be needed when mobbing through the riverbeds and sand dunes. I blame RAM for resurrecting the TRX 🤣
