New info on 98 mph top speed.

What makes zero sense to me.....why cant they put the correct program back on the ECU? What could prevent them from wiping it clean and doing a fresh install?

Chris
The old software doesn't exist. This is the only PCM software available currently. Dealer can't do anything about it. Ram needs to push new software to all the dealer Witech computers.

What's interesting is that the OP to this thread has apparently been contacted by RAM on this issue affecting his RHO, but he didn't want to say anything further out of fear that that might jeopardize his resolution, which infers that RAM is aware of this board.

I have an RHO on order as well, just waiting to be shipped to the dealer, and I'm on the fence about taking delivery, given RAM's handling of this issue. All you have to do is just tell us it was a mistake and you're working to resolve the issue. Not the "here's $3,500 to shut up and go away, and just live with it."

RAM 's not very quick on their feet. Most certainly, RAM can reprogram its PCM tune. They should have nipped this issue in the bud back in March when the OP first took his truck to his dealer and he mistakenly received the EXPORT tune flash, which limited his top speed to 98mph.

I can only specualte/hope that the MY26 RHO's are not being produced at SHAP with a limiter at 98mph, despite being equipped with T rated tires here in the US good for 118mph, but I would like RAM to put on thier big boy and girl pants, own this mistake, and all they have to do is just say, they are working on it.
They are definitely aware of this board, and they're hiding among us. lol. I hope to have some info on this today/tomorrow!

Why would they delete the previous versions? That's just horrible practice. It's software.....software has the potential for bugs/glitches....so why delete previous known-working versions? Sounds like some software engineer at Stellantis either fucked up.....or got disgruntled

I'm not a Ram engineer, but I've been in software for decades.

The previous versions 100% haven't been deleted, they exist.

I'd guess the process of updating trucks doesn't allow for moving backwards; this is pretty common, supporting compatibility both directions isn't trivial.

Then if backwards compatibility isn't possible....seems a new PCM flashed with with the correct US software is in short order

But other manufacturers have been able to reflash with previous software versions....so why not Stellantis?

The PCM’s come blank when ordered new. So the dealer has no choice but to put the software they have available in the new part. This is what got me here in the first place. My PCM was replaced (didn’t fix my issue) and this software was the only option.

I am about to take delivery of a '25 in the coming weeks. I wouldn't think during PDI they would update software, but I will be telling them I won't take delivery if they do. Other than the top speed limit, which I would prefer not to test right out of the gate, is there another way to tell if this update has been done? HP readings in kW? Thanks!

Which goes back to my question of why is Stellantis deleting previous software versions....

Anything done to the truck, whether it be during the PDI process, or otherwise should be documented so you can request that documentation prior to taking delivery.

Any my previous experience as a service advisor who sometimes helped complete PDI's on other vehicles, no software updates, etc. were performed in that process. The PDI is simply making certain the vehicle is in perfect working order, state inspected (as required by state) and any uninstalled OEM items (such as chin spoilers, etc.) were installed prior to the vehicle being sold or put into lot inventory. But RAM could be different

They can check the PCM software # by plugging it in, but I don't know if it will automatically update if needed...

Anyone see this?
Are we reading WHP?

As far as the main screen only showing 400-450hp, that was my initial thought. WHP tends to be in that 80% of engine HP, so tgst would definitely check out.

The fact that their dyno run in you link was showing 85% on HP and nearly 93% on Torque was Hella impressive! Everything working as it's supposed to, this is going to be a lot of fun to drive! 🤘

My thoughts as well. I was a service advisor for Acura for 13yrs, so pretty familiar with the PDI process. Also familiar with how some techs like to "tinker with things". Good call on the documentation. I would imagine there would have to be a line added for any update, so the tech would get his .3 or whatever those pay now...

So I took mine to the dealership, as I was having an issue with the blind spot not working. Got my truck back and it was a software issue and was fixed with the update. But of course, now I am limited to 98mph and the HP was turned to Kw at top 447. This does convert to 599 hp, but wtf? Who measures in Kw? I just wrote to my previous case manager. This is false advertising and unethical.
Also, if you go to the Ram website, they have removed the 118mph from the specs on the 2025.
The still have this though...

That screen doesn’t seem to show correct HP. The drivers gauge cluster does.
This... Drivers panel shows full HP output. Center display shows max of 400hp.

It's still there, it's just impossible to navigate to. You can still find it via a google search link, that will take you to the right spot on Ram's website

Thank you that would make sense now that my HP gauge is reading in Kw. That is a European measurement.
You can change it in the settings. My was Kw when I first picked it up.

It's the same situation for me. I top out at 460 - 470 most of the time. One cool morning I saw it hit 517 HP, only time I have gotten that. I am at 5280 ft. I swear when I got the truck though I was hitting 540 HP on the dash. I could be making that up but am a little concerned with that much HP drop on a forced induction engine at

I will

Good point, although I was looking at the driver's gauge cluster, which was peaking around 460. Comparing that to the photo of the performance pages confirms your statement - the gauge cluster does show a higher number than the performance pages!

Yeah it kinda sucks. Forced induction engines are supposed to lose a lot less power at altitude compared to naturally aspirated. So to be down 70-80 horsepower is kind of a big drop.

Good point. Since it exceeds 98 MPH, that gives me some confidence that my HP observations are a function of weather (ambient temp was 96 degrees the day I was testing) and altitude (~6,200 feet above sea level). My butt dyno indicates it's pulling strong and performing as expected. Looking forward to cooler temperatures in the Fall :)
