New info on 98 mph top speed.

Well, that’s quite the jump to conclusions.

I’ll likely never hit 98mph, but I do put the pedal to the floorboards somewhat regularly.

I also don’t really care if my Uconnect says 400hp or 540hp as long as the engine is actually meeting close to the marketed specs. I don’t get my jollies off of watching a graph on a display, but do greatly enjoy the seat of the pants feeling of that engine performance.

Either way, I do like $3500 quite a bit. Nice work OP!

Do we know the engine is meeting the advertised specs after the software update that is supposed to fix a mis-fire condition & preserve the CATs?

I remember someone saying, a while back when RHO was 1st hitting dealers, that the HO tune was the reason for the CATs melting. So, they potentially fix the tuning that melted the CATs & that did not affect engine output? And, the top speed is now limited to 98 MPH. Hmmmm….

Someone with an RHO…do you have access to a 4 wheel dyno? If yes, get numbers before & after the software update…PLEASE! It’s the only way to be sure.
 
This doesn't make a whole lot of sense given the TRX is been available for 5+ years now. The Goodyear Territory A/T's are specifically T-rated for 118mph. I don't see anywhere on the 2026 RHO webpage about top speed, but I do see the 118mpg on the 2025 page. You need to confirm, they won't be fixing your truck or will all future RHO's be limited?

The biggest thing this would affect is the quarter mile time; you'd be hitting the speed limter 3/4's of the way down the track and knocking at least a good second off the quarter mile time. That equates to bad marketing and suddenly, the Ford Raptor is faster again. Will the new TRX have a speed limiter, as well? (Makes no sense.)

This sounds like something the State of ¢alifornia would do; doesn't sound Tim Kuniskis' approved.

BTW…I had serious safety system faults upon purchasing my truck…the dealer tried to fix 2x, before telling me an upcoming software update was going fix the issue.

Guess what…no software update ever arrived to fix the issue. A determined Ram tech went down a Rabbit Hole & found the problem. It’s fixed now, but it was a hardware issue.

Now, my Ram supplied & programmed HP meter says my engine is making around 400 HP, after a software flash that changed the ignition parameters of the engine. But, it’s ok per Ram. As long as I’m running 91 Octane, my engine should run “fine”.

The dealer mentioned an upcoming software update may fix the HP meter. Sure. Holding my breath…

I’ve already ran beyond 100mph in Mexico. It was easy. And like others have mentioned, you cannot even run a 1/4 mile under 98mph. This is a prime example of simply because you’ll never use it doesn’t mean it should not have the capability.

Ultimate point being I am not one to be cucked by a manufacturer. If you tell me it is capable of XYZ for $$, that is exactly what I expect. We all know most Vette ZR1 owners won’t sniff 200mph, let alone 233mph. However, if GM came out AFTER owners have taken delivery and stated we reduced Top Speed by 20mph, they would be slapped with a lawsuit before end of business day.

Here exact words were "this will not be fixed, and will be the new top speed moving forward" what that means for 2026 models, I have no idea. But I'm willing to bet new trucks on the lot do the advertised 118 mph.
 
My dealership has been good to me throughout the process; I just don't think they have the pull or the experience to get me answers from their field rep. or the manufacture itself. They haven't dealt with many RHO's. I bet if someone was local to Mark Dodge and also purchased from there, and were having this issue, Mark Dodge could probably get answers.
 
Well.....this sucks......

And here I thought I was done with Lemon Law shit from my AT4X

Mine happens to be at the dealer now (for 8 days and counting) and if it comes back throttled lower I'm gonna be fucking livid! My AT4X being governed to 98 mph was enough of a slap in the face but I lived with it....at least until the engine shit the bed.

As much as I love my RHO....if this is the real answer from RAM/Stellantis....they can have it back and I guess I'll pick another brand

Should I be worried ?? 😬🫨

Yup. I had a Silverado that was limited to 98 and my Cummins is limited to 102 and that's fine with me because that's what it's advertised to do. I MIGHT even be ok with the RHO at 98 if I was told beforehand and given a reason. But for them to do it and then provide zero explanation like it didn't happen is not acceptable.
