Paint Defects

Seems like every black RHO I come across, the gas cap looks like this.

I had come across many on different forums before I decided on the black or Forged Blue. If that's the only paint on the truck that has an issue, I'll get it taken care of. I'm used to "Just good enough" paint jobs from the factory. My last truck was a 2015 Tundra. Paint was even worse.....

Here goes my defect and I’ve opened a case because I didn’t pay for a truck to be like this.

I thought they couldn't screw up white but I had blue primer showing through my white paint on the door and defects on the hood, figures! I traded it in for a Molten Red RHO I did not want to go through the hassle of getting 1/3 of the truck repainted. RamCares kept blaming the paint issues on the dealership for "not catching it". Don't take no for an answer from Ramcares. They were absolutely horrible to work with but I finally got some money from them towards the trade in.

That is so funny, as I did not know dealerships did the paint work.
Talk about extreme ownership, lets not blame the plant or quality control for not missing it. Damn dealers shame on them.

I just had a detailer at my house doing some other work. I didn’t say anything to him about my paint problems on my RHO, but I told him I was originally looking at an ATX 4. He said the paint on those trucks was horrible, be glad I didn’t buy one. Apparently this is the production quality you can expect now on many or all brands. What a shame!!

My silver billet has some issues but overall, paint looks good. I even too it to a body shop and tech recommended not to worry as most silver paints have the same issue and pointed to a corvette there they were repairing for other problems. It had same metal flake grouping issue.

lol, look at this shit ! 2026 level one with 3000 miles. Sun hit it just right today and I saw all this. Took it home and shined a flashlight on it in the dark and just look at this SHIT! Almost $90k for this ???!!!! You best bet I’ll be on the phone tomorrow and Monday. You can’t see this shit unless the light hits it just right. I would have NEVER bought it if I had seen this.

LULZ. All American paint = shit. You just have to find one with an acceptable level of flaws. After an atrocious billet silver one that I swapped for a white one, I'm satisfied. It's harder to screw up non-metallic white paint, but it can still be nit-picked.

Yeah, mine is white. That black portion at the bottom is what’s F’ed up

LULZ. All American paint = shit. You just have to find one with an acceptable level of flaws. After an atrocious billet silver one that I swapped for a white one, I'm satisfied. It's harder to screw up non-metallic white paint, but it can still be nit-picked.

Everyone really needs to be calling out every single quality issue with these trucks- Not just accepting it as normal. As long as we keep buying the crap they’re peddling they’ll keep just throwing them together.

But WTF do we do when we have a new truck that we can’t trade out because of negative equity now and don’t want to put in a paint shop for weeks on end. Ram care really is no use. They just wanna throw in full free oil changes, lol. This paint is totally unacceptable on almost $90,000 truck and ram needs to do something to make it right.

Can’t disagree, the paint on my 2014 Limited was incredible. The paint on my 26 RHO is horrendous.

But I’m afraid we’re pissing in the wind guys. I have a few bleed through spots that can only be seen in certain light that I could fight to have fixed but the paint in the entire truck is abysmal. The worst orange peel I’ve seen in a long time. The only fix for that is repainting the whole truck and that ain’t gonna happen on Ram’s dime. Even for the local bleed through issues do you really want your local dealership trying to fix that? I could see having the common issues with the gas port lid resprayed but beyond that, I don’t want a dealer touching it.

It ain’t right but it’s a slippery slope that can easily be made worse by fighting with Ram to have a dealer fix these things…and fail.

I can agree. But we shouldn’t have to settle for shitty paint on a $88k truck. They need to refund what it would cost to paint entire truck or throw in a lifetime warranty. Because most of us are stuck with tons of negative equity to even think about trading out.

But this assumes you want to live with shitty paint and all the other issues for a lifetime…. I do feel for folks that are just stuck due to negative equity situations . But I’m afraid it’s only going to get worse as word on the many issues spreads far and wide.

I had rust issues and paint bubbling on my last Jeep which were known issues due to a steel/aluminum seam on the hood. The dealer repainted the hood under warranty no questions asked. They matched the tri-ivory pearl perfectly but the paint job itself was horrendous. Swirls, fisheyes, pinholes, it was awful. They didn't even cut and buff.

My RHO paint has a few defects but I'd rather live with them than have another paint repair like that. Just sayin. But I do agree we deserve better.

I don’t know…. I chose to get out when I got a good offer. I only lost $3k on what I paid for it.

Yeah, I think every manufacturer right now is shit. Even Toyota. I had a 2025 Chevrolet ZR2 6.2 that blew up at 720 miles. Thought I would never get out of that eventually, a threatened lawsuit, forced a buy back

I’ve had my RHO for the past month and I just noticed a couple of significant paint defects along the leading edge of the hood on the driver side. You can only see it when light hits it at a certain angle. It almost looks like a glob of metallic flake but it’s gold-ish so maybe its primer bleeding through an area with thin paint?

In any event, just curious if anyone has had any luck with Stellantis covering a paint defect like the below under warranty?

I guess this is my intro - I picked up my 2027 RHO L0 yesterday evening. It was too dark when I got home. Took it out this morning up on WMA, got a little dirty. Back to the car wash in town, and I start to notice the silver on the wheel well swells (bedside) on both sides has light painting. I had to stand at an obtuse angle to really see it, but there it is, on both sides. Called my sales guy, was instructed to put in a claim with them or another dealership.

Its really hard to see, you almost have to already know, but it did catch my eye. I'm trying to decide if I want to do something about it or not. It kinda irks me on a $76k truck just knowing its there.

Silver tends to hide alot, but the fact it caught my eye was enough.

If you look down the bed, you can see mottled patches of light silver and darker silver.

If you look down the bed, you can see mottled patches of light silver and darker silver.

This has been WELL documented on the silver painted trucks in the same locations. They discontinued billet silver because it was so shitty. The zenith has smaller, lighter flake and is not as bad, but still there unfortunately.
