Phone as key

You’ll get it on android when those 18 cowboys show up on your ranch. Cant imagine how slow they must be if they can’t even program it for android. Crazy thing is that unconnect runs on android
Im fuckin dying rn 🤣 😭 😂 big facts. I got 18 cowboys on speed dial and some XL showers so Ram better get it together .

As a side note, as anyone else's 3 month trial ended but still keep working? I got the email saying it expired over 2 weeks ago but still going strong somehow.

When I went in to actually pay for the subscription after the 3 months, it came with an additional two months free.

the connected services for the app. opening the doors and checking location etc. it came with 3 months already but I never added a payment method or anything so they can’t be charging me.

Ah! That's why it doesn't show my trips anymore

That shouldn’t be paid… that’s weird. Got a work ford maverick with all same functions in app and there’s no subscription for it or anything, and my Toyota app is free…. That’s dumb. I understand WiFi in board subscription or Sirius XM but app payment is retarded..

Anyone know of a way to add a keypad number unlock? I use this feature on my ford all the damn time when hunting boating etc I don't want to bring my keys or phone with me. Really nice to be able to leave keys in the truck specially if someone else needs to grab it

That’s what the key card is for. Lock everything inside and just unlock with waterproof/weatherproof card

That doesn't help me if I want someone else to grab the truck or I don't want to have to worry about losing a key or key card dead phone etc. the key code on the truck is probably something I use every day hell even at home my keys just stay in the car and I can lock and unlock without ever making sure I have something with me.

Given that Ford has a patent on keyless entry using a hardwired keypad, I doubt it’ll ever show up on a OEM solution for RAM. Especially since it’s such a niche use case, reinforced by ford dropping it as standard on their vehicles.

There are aftermarket wireless solutions but if it wasn’t easy enough to steal these vehicles, having one of those makes it a cake walk if you know how to disrupt the signal

That patent has been expired for many years. Ford has been using the keypad since the late 70's. It is a great feature that I still cannot believe other manufacturers have not adapted. I was strongly considering a Raptor R before I bought the RHO, and the keypad (built-in battery) is a stick-on optional accessory for '25 on the Raptor R....!

There are more modern solutions that are being developed. The plan for Phone as a key is having the ability to share the key with other people that you want to have access to the vehicle (for iPhone users at the moment), which eliminates the need to remember and share codes or give people your physical key

I think this is one of those things that new and modern doesn't fix. Sometimes we will hike for a day or two get back to the truck phone is dead you lost it etc I may be an outlier but not having to have anything is the simplicity and the beauty of it lol. May have to try to find a wireless one probably works the same as key fob. Not a huge fan of it requiring battery but I'll have to look for one of those.

Shiet, if that’s the case given how temperamental these Stellantis batteries are, you might also come back to a dead truck 🤣

All jokes aside, hope the wireless keypad solves your need

Agreed it's fantastic and something I use all the time.

from what I read that's no joke lol I always carry a lithium jump pack I've never owned a ram hopping this isn't a mistake. They are supposed to be making announcement on Sunday if it's for the new Trx I'm probably going to bail on my order and get that as long as it's available In 2025. I ordered in March and they havnt started building yet.

there are a few after market companies making solutions; here is an example https://visiontechamerica.com/collections/keyless-entry
I agree, the Ford deal is very slick
