Ram's Hurricane Turbo Six Storms Past the Hemi V-8

It won’t matter. When you get you tuner you still will not be able to pull off a 5.0 let alone a 4.6
Are you chiding him or being serious? I have gotten under 5 multiple times...not under 4 though :)

So yesterday coming back from Carolina fully loaded enroute to Ohio, I have the following to report...
Down in the Myrtle beach area I was running ~15.3 mpg provided I kept the speed below 65mph...which is considerably better than here in Ohio of ~13.5 to 14.1 mpg...Now for the fun bit...

West Virginia Turnpike, leaving the toll booths, about 1/4mile down the road...slowly picking up speed to 70 mph, I suddenly heard behind me the roar of a V8 stepping up a gear...So, I floored it, he got level to my rear drivers side door, when my truck smoothly glided away...Curb my speed at 104mph and slowed down to ~82...Guy then went flying past in his newish stepped up GMC Silverado...I guess ego had to be quenched :-)

Both. Do the math if he’s running a 5.4 stock he’s still not gonna get there.

I was gonna ask him what color of truck he was.

@Wrinkled_Donut, your beadlocks are not helping the 0-60 time. They're a fair bit heavier than the peasant wheels. Also, the mud flaps are slowing you down. Not so much due to wind resistance, but the universe just doesn't allow trucks with mud flaps to be fast.

I’ve had my RHO since April 2025 and could never get my 0-60 below 5.0 for the longest time. I did everything right - Sport mode, set RPMs in the Race Mode settings to 3500, and had the engine at normal operating temperature. Best I could do up until recently was 5.30. Finally hit 4.7 last month not doing anything different. I have no idea what incantation or sacrificial ceremony has to be done, but I think I can do better. Keep trying @Wrinkled_Donut and never, never, never give up!

In all seriousness...without using launch control...if I go above 3500? rpms while holding the brakes....and gun it, it falls on its face...a little below and she launches.....

Im probably the only guy here who talks smack who actually has never used "launch control"

Chris
THIS! I tried to launch just using power braking the other night and rapped it to limit @ 4500 rpm it fell on its face. But when I launched it somewhere between 3200-3500....I hit my fastest 0-60 yet @ 4.7 sec! And the really strange thing is that those were the smoothest shifts I've ever experienced in this truck and it had no exhaust fart at gear changes. But I'll take it!

@Wrinkled_Donut I'd venture to say there's something not right with your truck. Even my crappy launches w/o launch control are 5.2, 5.0, etc. Although the other night when I was launching at 4500 rpm I was hitting 5.6+.....and I was showing a friend how hard it launches and it made me look like a bitch!

As an avid offroader, I need the mudflaps. You should see the amount off stuff I kick up commuting to and from work on the highway. Yesterday, I ran over a pebble.

Definitely think it's the transmission thing. I saw here a long time ago someone got their TCM updated and the acceleration was a night and day difference. I'm just not in any hurry, I'll have it checked out my next service in a couple thousand miles.

You should've caught back up to him....at best he would've topped out @ 112mph.

A guy from Tennessee doing math? Uh oh. 🤣
I’m pretty good at counting on my fingers. Except I would run out of fingers counting how long it would take you to catch up to everybody else

MPG is all over the place here. I’ve seen posts of single digits and others over 20. I’m at 14 average (90% city). I’m equally baffled by both 8 mpg and 20 mpg. One treats every light as a Christmas Tree and others drive 60mph on the Highway.
I'm sayin I gotta call bullshit on 20 !!! Unless its coasting downhill with the engine shut off :D :ROFLMAO:
