What's new

Really no subwoofer?

Exactly what I was thinking. Im an audio idiot but I know what I like, I just dont know how to get it to be what I like.

Kinda surprised there are no openings or anything like it looks like @Eighty has in the pic above mine.
Took a better picture for you.

Thank you good sir!
It's interesting that it seems a lot of us (all?) have that empty plug and no cutout. Also intersting from reports the TRX sub hits so much harder than the RHO seems to.

I'm going through and trying to find information on the Sub and Amp and I can find them but there is no specifics and they are super cheap which is a little concerning to say the least...

Ok so what can we fit in the stock sub space? Anything worth while or jus do custom box?
Throw a stealthbox in! They fit perfectly under the seats but you do lose that area for storage. Pretty sure you can do two 12’s, I opted for two 10’s.

I would love to replace the stock one and be able to reuse the stock location. Probably too much of an ask. I do use my under seat storage, at least partially, so I don’t want to loose the entire area. Maybe find a box that takes up half the space?

Ram made some minor changes in 2025. My 2019, 2021, and 2023 had the same HK audio with a little deeper bass. My 2025 RHO was definitely weaker. If you enjoy a good clean bass punch that you can feel, you’ll need to integrate an external sub and amp. I built a box for a single RF Power 12” sub and went with a RF Power 500 watt amp. I built my own box because I didn’t want it to extend over the mat. Problem solved!

That’s a clean build. Had I not gone with a custom box, that’s exactly what I would have used. I do wish Ram would have given us RHO folks an option to upgrade to the Klipsch audio available in the Tungsten. It’s actually a legit system with a good low end punch.

Double confirmed the speakers are there. Reach in from the middle, find the string and pull. You might have to try pulling outboard vs inboard but it does work.

I have a L1 with the HK and I do have sub because I turned the bass up to 11 and could feel it, but barely. From looking at the back wall of the cab you wouldnt know anything was back there. Also had this empty plug which initially made me suspicious no sub was there.
Do you know what that cable is for? The more I listen to this system and adjust it there is nothing redeemable about it. I pushed everything to the back and turned up the bass and mid and it emits sound but none of it is bass which makes me think there is an amplifier issue with the bass? but that doesn't explain the rest of the speakers and not sure if it the quality, the need for a proper sound processor or more power. The stereo in my 23 PW was far superior with less speakers than this pile of garbage.

You have to message ram cares with your vin to gain access. Ram will roll out subwoofer access right after they are finished up with the digital key updates.
So the subwoofer is disabled before activating digital key?

Go to the dealer and have them pull a limited out if they don't have a RHO...Compare your truck to another HK

I do have to say I am underwhelmed with the HK . I was looking forward to it and while I like it ok, it is not what I expected.

I can’t imagine much has changed with the HK system since my 2019, but I remember people sticking polyfill in the void of that sub. It’s a really crappy sub and encased in a plastic box. Some say it made a big difference and some said not so much. Another thing about the system people were having problems with is if you mess with the system you end up messing up the noise canceling properties of the truck. Somehow it was tied into the sub.

I ended up just swapping out all door and dash speakers because I wanted my cab as quiet as possible and not mess up any noise cancellation. I can’t remember if I changed the smaller speakers in the upper front doors, but I didn’t mess with the rear on the headliner. They just weren’t loud enough to really hear anyway so I left them alone. Also if you start swapping door or dash speakers, I remember some peoples trucks the polarity was reversed so watch out for that.

I need to look at mine as my 6 speaker lame ass Jeep has more bass than my level 1 :/

Chris

It seems the systems leans on the center dash speaker in surround mode and the sub never seems to fill the void and in turn only increases the the void.

***UPDATE***
I called the dealership today to make an appointment and when they asked what the appointment was for they explained they couldn't do anything about it and I'm not the only one having this issue. They said that Ram said if there is anything coming out that speaker it is working as part of the system. I told him the only purpose of a sub-woofer is to emit bass and it wasn't putting out ANY!!!! they went on to describe the issue which was when you feel behind the seat there is a slight vibration indicating there was a speaker there and thus it was working. I will send a nasty gram to Ram tomorrow about this but doubt anything will happen and this is not how you get repeat customers.:mad:

My base RAV4 system has more bass and it doesn't have a sub. I thought that system was bad and now it sounds kick ass lol

Lots of bass in mine, you can definitely tell there is a subwoofer back there. Turn off surround sound and you'll be much happier with the sound staging and output of the system.

I have tried every adjustment and I punched everything to the back and nothing. I don’t k ow if it's the system, The harness, the amps. Or the sub itself because there is no bass anywhere in my system.

The system as a whole is garbage and has been since 2019 when they started putting the HK systems in. In my 2019 I swapped the door speakers with CDTs and it made a huge difference. I wish I could remember what I swapped the dash speakers with, I’m sure I could go back on another forum and find out. The bass in my 26 RHO does sound tighter than the 2019, that truck was boomy and sloppy, but the highs are tiny and kind of ear piercing and the mids seem nonexistent. I wanted to take my old speakers out before trading it and thought I kept the old HK ones, but I think I ended up throwing them in the garbage as they were paper thin and laughable.

Btw junk yard dawg was my favorite wrestler back in the day.
