Rumored Mopar Tuner

I know it will probably be a “weaker” tune but I’ll gladly take the light tune with full warranty backing. Piece of mind is a wonderful thing. Almost every car I’ve owned has been tuned and it was always a bit uneasy bringing it to the dealer for services and having to try and hide everything. It also made me baby the cars a bit more. It’s nice to know I have full factory warranty and can beat the piss out of it.

Hoping Mopar does a “stage 1” or “stage 2” option package with their exhaust too for a better deal then getting them separately. I’d really be down for that 😎

Also the rumors about it being a Cat6 are interesting since those are piggyback that trick the ecu. Why not have a factory backed actual ecu tune instead of tricking sensors? I’d think a simple ecu flash would work from the factory?

This is a great question, but pretty sure the guy who spoke to Holley and Mopar DC engineers said that's what it's going to be 🤷🏻. Doesn't make much sense to me either, but I don't see why the poster or the engineers would have any reason to lie.

I suppose we will find out soon enough. Their new website goes live "as early as this month" and will include all the new RAM products, as RAM is finally joining Direct Connection.

Whatever it is, I'll buy it. Already spent 5k in the past on repairs to my STI engine after they found out it had a cobb Accessport. Not playing warranty games anymore.

Loved the Cobb AP. Had it on my GTR, mitsu Evo, and 911 turbo. I would flash it to stock for the Porsche every dealer service. Was never sure if they would catch it or not but it wasn’t a fun experience knowing I could be out a small fortune if something goes wrong.

UPDATE:

The new Mopar Direct Connection website (along with the new products i.e. tuner) is "days away" from being launched.
If this does happen, I wonder how different it will be with HP and TQ numbers from the Cat6, if at all.

I'm curious myself. One would generally tend to think it would be a detuned version of the Cat6, but who knows? I really think Ram has a lot of confidence in the H.O Hurricanes- they should handle the little bit of extra boost with 0 issues.

The guy who spoke to the Holley engineer said that it was going to be a "Cat6 with a mopar sticker", so here's to hoping it's not a detuned version. Even if it is though, I'll still buy it. Unless it's something ridiculous like 25hp.

This is my exact concern with an aftermarket tuner on the RHO. They caught the Cobb AP on my STI and denied the powertrain warranty. I had removed it before going in for every single service, and they still caught it. If they can do that on the STI which is essentially unchanged since 2004, I'm sure they can on the RHO lol. They could see my STI was running too much boost, I'm sure they will be able to see this on our trucks too.

My concern isn't the fear of the aftermarket tuner causing a problem per se, it's more the fear of something else completely irrelevant happening, and them using the tuner as a way to deny the warranty (which is exactly what happened with my STI). Especially with the dire straights that Stellatnis is supposedly in, I'm sure they're looking for every excuse to get out of high cost warranty claims.

did you remove the cobb ap device or did you actually remove the tune and revert to stock?

ps fly eagles fly

If RAM Stellantis gives their stamp of approval for this tuner, than 99% of anxiety related to warranty issues will be eliminated. Nothing worse than stressing out over your mods

Yes, I unmarried and uninstalled it. It still leaves markers on the ECU, unfortunately. The stock tune will show up when they look at it, but they will be able to see boost logs. GO BIRDS 🦅
Is there a banner on the page or is the new site not even published yet?
Nope, this is all top secret VIP insider knowledge that only I have access to. I could tell you how I got it, but then I'd have to kill you. 😂

💯. After dropping thousands for STI debacle, I swore I wouldn't go down that road again.

He’s already flogging the orgasm button again

If it’s a rebadged cat6 dodge will almost certainly mark it up to $999.99

let's see what we get first, this tuner or GTA6
If it's just a rebadged Cat6 we'll definitely see it first since we all know it works already. Now if we were talking about the phone as a key feature.... Honestly, I think we'll see that with the 6th gen Rams, which will be tied into the release of GTA6 as the first paid DLC content... And probably cost the same as the actual truck! 😂🤣

I wonder if I can have someone print decals so mine looks “factory” approved too 🤣

Chris

PS I also need to remove the sharpie numbers identifying mine as a beta unit

It will mostly likely be just Map 1 to run on 91...not everyone has access to 93, I believe they will leave those maps off.
