They showed us a picture of the trucks lined up, but indeed they may not be telling every detail. Some trucks do sail through the vendor status and some sit. There is no rhyme or reason to it. Only the factory knows the order of which the truck goes through the process. For me as a dealer, I can only say that time is of the essence and a sale is not a sale until its registered int he customer name and the customer takes it home. Both the factory and the dealer have a vested interest on getting the car here and delivered as quickly as possible otherwise we don't make a dime. For those that are delayed say longer then a week or so on a sold order, it is recommended, that the salesperson at the store or sales manager contact the zone manager to put in a request to expedite a bonafide sold order (one under an actual customers name versus a dealer stock unit) and the factory will try to add extra priority. And yes some of the trucks probably got delayed for parts availability and other issues. I know things like the bed step and beadlock wheels for instance have been on a slow build with their manufacturers so cars ordered with that go maybe a little slower depending on the time.
I can say this in many years of sales. Don't ship the car unless its perfect , and you only get one chance to make a good impression. With loans for 6 and 7 years being common now, I would rather it take a bit extra time up front then have any issues in a customers hands.
