Great write up. You've literally mirrored my every single thought to a T.Hey @Wrinkled_Donut, thanks for the nudge. Installed the CAT6 on Saturday. After living with it for a few days, I can confidently say it is legit!
For reference, I've been running a Roar Pedal since last August. I actually like the the RP's responsiveness a bit better than the CAT6 but I'm still playing with the settings (i.e., pedal responsiveness, boost by gear, etc.). The short story is that if your budget doesn't permit a CAT6, then the RP is a must-have upgrade, however, the CAT6 is a significantly more comprehensive improvement over the RP with its increases in horsepower and torque.
Here are my initial subjective observations (note that I only have 91 octane here at elevation, no 93 available):
MAP 1 (+3 throttle). Improved sense of urgency from both standing and rolling starts.
MAP 2 (+6 throttle). Wow - noticeably more powerful at every RPM. It just keeps pulling.
MAP 3 (+6 throttle). Phuckin' A! This makes the RHO get up and GO. Like Donut mentioned earlier, it's not a "rowdy" blast off the line like the Hellcat, but in Sport mode every standing start feels like a brake boosted start. It pulls hard up to the redline. When cruising at 40+ mph, giving it the gas makes the front lift about an inch before reaching speed and settling down, definitely puts a grin on my faceIt does push you back in your seat, not like a NASA moon shot, but you definitely feel it. Yeah, you're at 100 mph in no time, so you have to be careful because if there's traffic in front of you, you're going to be on top of them like "rightnow."
I haven't had the opportunity to make any 0-60 pulls yet, but that's coming in the weeks ahead.
Installation took about 1.5 hours, because I took my time. Accessing the MAP sensor was the hardest part and the instructions could use some improvement here in helping locate the sensor. I removed the 10mm bolt to loosen the bracket, but it didn't help much, so I just unscrewed the sensor from the manifold with a torx bit, allowing better access to make the connection. Simply put it back and tightened it up, no problem.
The first time I started the engine post-install, it threw a CEL and gave me a P068A error code. Further research on the forum showed that I reconnected the battery cables in the wrong order. After disconnecting the negative cables and then reconnecting starting with the main battery first, then the auxiliary (little battery), no codes and everything works great. Next time it goes to the dealer, I'll just take it off and reinstall when I get home. Now that I know what I'm doing, it shouldn't take more than 30 minutes.
The RHO is already powerful, but with the CAT6 it feels like it has way more power than you'll ever be able to use in city driving. You really have to get to "Mexico" to stretch it out and enjoy the enhanced power. It is well worth the money. I want to live with it for a few weeks and do some timed testing before making a final verdict, but based on my experience so far the CAT6 is a keeper and I'm selling the RP!
As always, thanks @Nick797 for the great price and fast shipping!
I was also happier with the throttle response with the RP, but that's old news. Don't even notice it anymore.
I've left mine on Map 3 with +6 (highest) throttle. I run only 93 octane. I honestly haven't even tried another mode once
Also yet to do a true 0-60 run. Not nearly as concerned with it as I used to be though, as it definitely feels like it finally has the power it "should have" now. It will absolutely throw you into a wall in Baja mode. Love it.
