took me somewhere between 2-3 hours this weekend, no lift or jacks on my back.
Removal of stock was easier for me because I had the mrt trail rated already installed.
The connection to the cats was the biggest pain in the ass for me. I don't know who thought of that idea for gaskets, but they suck.
I have to go back under this weekend to make some adjustments, but overall all fairly easy. Just make sure you have something in hand to support the driverside muffler during install.

How would you compare the two?

I have the MRT Extreme and think it sounds great. Just waiting for someone to come out with a good down pipe setup.

Apples to oranges, the mrt trail rated is basically a muffler replacement/valve removal, the awe is is a full cat back. The valve removal was important to me, I don't like that there's the slightest possibility of those failing, I could not believe how small the opening is when the valves are closed, the rattle at idle/startup was aggravating, and even with the valves open, they definitely would still cause a restriction in the exhaust. The mrt does a 45 degree offset inside the muffler, but is more or less straight through. The awe is completely straight through and also removes some of the cat back section that is flattened from the factory for what I assume is clearance.

Honestly, I would say both are EXACTLY as advertised, just depends on what you're looking for.i enjoyed thr mrt for it's advertised purpose, the awe is a little loud at cold start and during light acceleration for my liking, but I can live with that. The idle sounds very nice, the highway cruising is stock, or honestly possibly better, the wide open throttle is unreal. It's exactly how I want this thing to sound at full throttle.

Here's a clip of the oem exhaust paired with a set of my downpipes. As always, it sounds better in person, and it sounds pretty good with the oem system.

I clamped my passive exhaust valves in the full open position, and honestly, I think the sound improved dramatically and even has a lot of similarity to many of these $1500-3000 cat-back systems. I’m pretty pleased with it… especially for $10.

The only thing I’ve heard so far that made a significant difference to the exhaust characteristics are the down pipes we see coming to market. Unfortunately I’m too cheap to buy a set, but I’m definitely looking forward to seeing some customer reviews and videos once these start making their way to others!

The MF Xmod has either OE valved or straight pipe (no valve) options -- when I installed my system last week I noticed that the valves are not soleniod operated, but rather they open when exhaust pressure overcomes the valve spring. Springs can be seen (painted red) in the box of parts photo. BTW, the MF Xmod sounds really really good!

I think it changes it to be exactly how you want it to sound but everyone hears something different. All about perspective. I took a chance at $450 and I couldn’t be happier. Doesn’t sound any worse than any of the cat-back systems I’ve heard and for a fraction of the cost. If you don’t like it , switch them out,YMMV

Yeah I agree all perspective. But I’m super happy with it. I do think it sound deeper and definitely louder. MRT has an extra discount code but not sure if it will be all month: October10.

Agreed, it already has a full 3" system from factory, why pay to put the exact same thing on the truck when you can just swap the muff and be done. Plus it sounds deeper and cleaner, no farting noises. I've listened to all the systems on studio speakers with sub, they all pretty much sound the same +/- raspy farts.
