Fitcamx Dash Cam

Anyone have any experience with the fitcamx that can comment on the glare filters or fuse block kit.. are those needed? or is it fine without them

They did not.
Thanks. Reading helps and their webpage says they use a Novatek chip. I for one, did not know how those compare to Starvis, so I googled it and here is what AI tells me: "Starvis chips are designed specifically for low-light performance, making them significantly better for capturing clear images in dark environments, while Novatek chips offer a more general-purpose image processing solution with a wider range of applications; typically found in cheaper dash cams or security cameras where low-light sensitivity isn't the top priority."

I guess it comes down to how much low-light capability you desire.

i was also curious on this. Also, how long does the camera stay recording or "on" after the truck is shut off?

The fuse block kit would let it run from battery while the truck is off. Without that, the camera only works while the truck is on.
I don’t have that kit on mine, so I can’t comment any further on it.
I also don’t have the glare filter, and haven’t seen any video footage that would suggest I need it. Not that I review the footage extensively.

I just placed an order for one and used code miller10 for 10 percent t off at the fitcam website.

The fitcam seems like the most aesthetically integrated solution. Not sure we really need the best resolution…though, when you need a plate#, you NEED a plate#, I suppose. I think it will be sufficient 99% of the time.

I’m not going the camera route, yet. Ram needs to fix all my electrical glitches before anything aftermarket is getting hooked into it. Don’t need to give them a scapegoat.

I canceled my Fitcam order.

Kinda shady to select what you want (for our trucks) from the website...

..only to get an email from China asking which model truck I have, with windshield questions.

Shady shit going on...

Haha yeah they a headache. Even when you knew before what you wanted A,B or C they still wouldn't send you one until you prove to them what you had. I even ordered once with them through Amazon flash sale and there they would also contact you through Amazon asking to upload pictures. Im guessing return shipping to China was a lot for them.

I don't think its shady, many TRX owners bought these and had zero issues and loved them. they just want to make sure they send you the right camera to keep customers happy. they aren't going to scam you.

Yes I'm sure they had lots of returns especially with last rams having 3 different styles. My 4th camera through them and never had issues.

It's nothing to worry about. They just want to make sure people are ordering the correct ones. I went through the same email questions when I ordered mine a long time ago.

Looks like I'm getting delivery today. Not sure if $9.99 express shopping was worth it but getting delivered overnight from China worth it.

How much of a pain is to to:

1) Install the fuse box kit rather than just using the connector up inside the rearview mirror's plastic housing?

2) Install and hide the wiring for the rear-facing camera (and mounting the rear-facing camera)?

Thanks!

I'm not going to hardwire this one but done on previous ram 1500 and it's not hard at all under 1 hour job. Rear camera install very easy just take pop out door seals on top put wire and pop back on door seal. In the rear wire goes strait under headliner until it hits rear camera. To hide excess long wire for rear camera I just left it inside door seals. Plenty of room to hide it there.

I received fitcam yesterday but didn't want to install at night plus lazy and today looks like will be busy all day. Will post some pictures after.

You’ll likely see a California address. Google the address. It’s a house. I ordered one in August and sent back due to truck order getting jacked up. I told them to cancel and they mailed anyway. When it came time to send back it went to a residential home.
