Ram Digital Key Update

Tried multiple times already.
Yep. Me too. Zero functionality. Zero from Ram support now too.

My better half just bought a Tesla M3. That thing is LIGHT YEARS ahead on tech compared to my RHO. - and I agree wirh the post above. How rhe hell can Tesla be so far ahead on the tech game as a relatively new start up and ram can’t even get a now common Feature to work. All tesla has is a card key or your phone. And guess what - it worked immediately. On both our phones. In less that 20 seconds we had it set up and working.

Now another recall for non mounted rear seatbelts and zero parts on the first one.

Simply and utterly unacceptable.

I got mine working today. I had tried several times in the last couple of weeks, and it would not pair, but today it paired right up after two tries. Finicky, to say the least.

It stored it in my Samsung Wallet, supposedly.

Doors open, and it starts with just the phone in my pocket.

Would I trust it to go on a 300-mile trip?? Hell no!

If I were outside without the key in my pocket, feeling lazy and needing to pop over to Lowes or the grocery store a few miles away, sure!

Got the update, and reinstalled app. So far so good.

so, when you say "got the update"

does that mean you got it over the air or at stealership?

I ask because...I'm wondering if I should be waiting on my wifi connection to grab this update

or

head to Hades and suffer thru the service dept.

because, I can say this unequivocally, this phone-key feature ain't worth the angst of going to a Stellantis dealership.

The RHO is awesome.

OTA

I had to give it a few attempts this morning, but it finally paired. I noticed that when I went through the Uconnect screen first, and then tried to go through my phone to connect, it wouldn't pair. I had to do it in reverse order, which was set the pairing up on my phone first, and then go through the Uconnect screen- when I did it this way, it paired immediately.

Also, make sure you do not put the phone in the cradle- you have to hold the top of the phone against the NFC symbol on the driver's side charging pad.

It comes as an OTA update, that goes through the vehicle and not through Wi-Fi. You can send a direct message to @RamCares on here, and include your VIN, and they can get you set up so the next batch of updates that go out will include your truck. I think it took about a week to get the update on my truck, once Ram Cares confirmed they added me.

I provided my VIN about 3 weeks ago.

can you answer another question?

How do I know I have received this update?

There will be a large message that pops up in the Uconnect display that says you have an update waiting to be applied and give you the option to update now or update later. Takes about 25 min to update and can do so after you turn the truck off, while it does it's thing. I checked back in around 30 min after I turned the truck off, restarted the truck and received a confirmation message on the Uconnect screen that the truck was updated.

I'd still reach back out to @RamCares and see if they can update you- they were very responsive to my direct messages Mon - Fri.

Did it just say it was updated or did it say the digital key was added (finally:ROFLMAO:). I ask because I had an update a week or so ago but it didn't mention the key and I have an open discussion on a weekly basis with RamConnect about this and my GPS, and she told me my truck wasn't in the last batch for the key!?!?! How did you know it was ready to try the pairing???

I had that message pop up in my truck last night. I hit update now, and put the Noco battery charger on. It seems like everything went properly.
I was looking in the settings and see “digital key” setup in the “doors and locks” tab, but didn’t bother with that yet.

Check your Ram App- if you don't see a tile added to the app for the digital key pairing, then you have not received the update.

My truck is a 6/24/26 build, picked it up 7/24/26. OTA update appeared this evening when I pulled into the garage and I approved it to start. The tile appeared on my RAM app about an hour later, went out to the garage and paired it on the first try. Seems to work flawlessly but I can't see myself ever using it unless I'm out and lose the fob. Even then I tucked the card in my wallet just in case so seems more like a parlor trick to be honest.

I see my tile is added to the app as well, so I will probably do the pairing tomorrow.
Does the digital key work like bmw’s, where as long as the phone is on me/in my pocket, I can unlock and start the vehicle, or do I have to hold the phone to the handle or something like that?

Works like the BMW- as long as you have a phone and/or Apple Watch paired, you can leave the phone in your pocket and/or your watch on your wrist and go about business as normal. There’s no need to tap the device to the handle and/or the drivers side charging pad.

Perfect.

So if you have the proximity setting on does it light up every time you walk by, even if the keys are inside the house?

If you have your phone and/or watch linked to the phone as key option, and have the proximity on, then yes. Every time you walk by the truck, it will welcome you.

I'm the "lucky" one that got the update quick and had no issues pairing ... Where in confused is locking and unlocking. which area is the "proper" area or procedure for locking and unlocking. Both when I'm solo occupant and when passengers are present.

I guess I'm just spoiled with my wife's Model Y. 🤣 Walk up grab ANY handle and it unlocks. Walk away And AutoMAGICally it locks.
