RAM RHO Transmission Issue

Here's where I'm at with this fiasco. I drove in with a vehicle that wouldn't upshift from 1-2 at WOT on April 2nd - drove fine otherwise, no CEL.

Now, following the transmission replacement on April 25th, I'm told the vehicle is shifting worse and sometimes won't shift out of gear. They don't want me driving it because it's deemed unsafe. I told the dealership they have until this Friday, 5/9 to have this remedied or I'll just tow it back to my house until the STAR team has an actual update to provide. I don't see this issue being resolved.

Lemon law time? If the dealer is saying don’t drive it’s not safe…seems reasonable ram buys it back.

When it's stuck in gear, can you come to a stop and then start again and everything is fine? When my check engine light was on, and I would hit 4,000 rpm's my truck would get stuck in gear and would not shift up or down until I came to a stop. My issue ended up being cam position sensor harness issues. The dealer replaced the pigtails and I haven't had an issue since. Took 30+ days and a free PCM that didn't solve it, but it's good now, minus my 98 mph top speed issue.
 
Transmission incident today similar to what others are describing. Truck was going 25mph at almost 5000rpm and no shift - barely made it over to parking lot and had it towed to dealer. A bunch of warning messages and dash lights came on as well. The main screen shut down too. The truck has just under 1100 miles and was already in the shop for 2 weeks on an unrelated issue (coolant valve defective and was replaced). I'm trying to not get too upset but it will take some time before I can trust the reliability. I don't want to jump the gun and have no experience with lemon law process but is this something I need to consider yet?

Thanks, this is interesting. I never had a CEL come on but I let the dealership know what resolve your issue. Heck, doesn’t hurt to investigate at this point right?

Right. I think the tech was able to grab the harness right at the connection and move it around and get mine to act up. But if you have no CEL, that’s interesting. But to be fair, I didn’t have a CEL each time. Only a few times.
 
****Friday Update****

So, after another week at the dealership they were not able to resolve the issue. They have been working with an engineer from RAM but it’s been a slow process. We’re at 37 days without my truck or remedy so I said screw it and had the truck towed to my house.

When they figure out the software/electrical issue, I’ll take it back. It operates like it did when I brought it in, so I’m literally back where I started - except they opened up my RHO like an Oreo for no reason.

At this point, I’m not acting as R&D for RAM any longer. Yes, I’ll likely start the buyback process if this can’t get resolved in the next couple weeks - I’m a slam dunk candidate under Texas Lemon Law.

LOVED driving the truck today even, if it wasn’t a spirited drive. I’ll certainly be disappointed if I have to let her go.

Is your truck stock? No JB4 or Cat6? I had my truck in for the alignment TSB yesterday as well as a 2” foutz level kit. so software was updated, and as luck would have it, today when I launched it in sport mode, it hung in 1st gear, bounced off the rev limiter, fell on its face, then shifted to 2nd. No CEL or other issues. Drives normal when not WOT

Welcome to the club my friend! That is exactly how it started with mine. Do not let them tell you this is a transmission hardware issue, it is not. This is something software related. That is why I picked up my truck yesterday, it drives fine with the exception of WOT. They need to get this figured out asap - you are the fifth RHO that I know that has had the same issue.
 
Mine has also bogged 1st at full throttle about 4 times I actually thought it was a safety gaurd for Trans but the last time it happened it seemed more unnecessary anyhow following this now
 
Welcome to the club my friend! That is exactly how it started with mine. Do not let them tell you this is a transmission hardware issue, it is not. This is something software related. That is why I picked up my truck yesterday, it drives fine with the exception of WOT. They need to get this figured out asap - you are the fifth RHO that I know that has had the same issue.

Truck is stock with the exception of the Eibach pro-lift kit.
Strange. I also had my 2” foutz kit put on yesterday. I wish I would have done some spirited driving before the TSB and the lift.

Elonmsk so all 3 of the trucks doing this are lifted? What about the other 2 you mentioned? I was going to lift mine but maybe I will hold off.​

 
I also have 2 " but believe my first if not first 2 were pre lift
Dang lift installed 4/11 first launch without luanch control was 4 /12 I remember it was after my shift and was the first time it bogged 1st instead of shifted
