RHO range and MPG

I'm 3 - 4 weeks into this RHO and mostly commute 50 miles RT - I've averaged around 16mpg, I'm not hammering all the time although I want to. Trying to break it in easy, not sure it matters. That said, I've been using the manual vs. automatic shifter and noticed the RHO really likes to keep the RPM's higher in "D" than when manually shifting. It's usually a gear or two lower than what I set it in, not sure if this will do any harm, can't imagine it would. It drops about 500 rpm's when cruising around traffic and makes a bit of difference on MPG's. I'll continue to monitor and see if I can keep it above 16mpgs for my commute. It's so hard not to hammer the throttle, hell it's why we bought these beasts.

It likes 6th gear from 45-60 MPH. If you manually go up to 7th or 8th, it will go from 18MPG to 25 MPG real quick!

I can’t get mine to show a lick over 14 no matter how granny I drive. That being said, I do love the 450+ range vs my Black Betty TRX. That fucker never showed past 11, but my foot seemed a lot heavier in that truck.

I should add some context on my commute, I'm one of the unfortunate living behind enemy lines. I commute from outside the Seattle area to Seattle and can't really get away from traffic, I end up no faster than 65mph, generally it's a crawl around 30/35mph. I will be heading out to MT to see my family late April, that will be a test, once I hit 85/90 in MT, I bet it drops to 10.

I am right at 13 mpg. Mostly just using to drive to work 2 miles each way. Slow small town traffic.

Just took a road trip from Denver to Phoenix and back. Averaged 15.0 mpg roundtrip (16.8 on way down, 13.9 on way back). That includes alot of high speed runs through the midddles of nowhere’s and driving around the city Happy with that!

91 is all I use in Colorado. City-heavy driving with a heavy foot gets me 11-12 mpg.

Just a tick under 22k, and mines locked in between 12.6 and 12.9. 55 mile round trip commute daily. Only fill it with 93. Sport, auto, baja, manual, doesnt matter and at this point i dont even care.

Its funny as ours sits about there as well with 8k miles....she says Im the one who runs it hard( I do from time to time and time and time) but the MPG always seems to drop after she has been driving it a while.....ok hunny.

I think she likes that Cat6 more than she will ever admit

I typically run 11.9 - 12.5 mpg, but I have been in baja or sport with paddles. I have about 4,400 miles and Cat6, 93 octane.

I’ve been taking it easy on my truck, currently have about 3,500 miles on it, 1st oil change was at 1K miles, and I still only average ~12.3mpg. And that obviously plummets if I get on it.

During a ~2K mile round trip with almost all highway driving I got ~14.6mpg.

Being a Redeye owner I learned early on to pick my spots to "sports drive".
With the RHO I drive the speed limit pretty much all of the time and currently I am averaging 15.3 MPG driving around Central Texas. When I get on the 80 MPH toll roads my MPG drops down into the 13 MPG range.
High Performance vehicles are not bought for fuel efficiency.

During the last administration when fuel prices became high and stayed there I started topping off my tank well before it reached a half tank. I know money wise it didn't make a difference but psychology it was easier spending under 40.00 to fill up.

I will probably ease off after a while, but it still makes me smile so what the heck. The widebody Challeger's were gorgeous, I had a 2021 Scat Pack widebody that I kick myself for getting rid of every time I see a Scat Pack widebody. I have zero technical knowledge but from the perspective of a normal guy who is generally unbaised but appreciates really cool shit, I think it may have been the perfect car.

Warm weather helps. I had a 16.3 mpg average over 5k miles through the summer of fairly low speed highway commuting. Once Fall hit with the ethanol blend and the cold temps exacserbating the inherent driveline drag of the permanent AWD, it went to shit. About 14.5. Biggest drawback of this truck is the lack of a 2High setting.
