So I am guessing 15" tube. Guys are including couplers. SMH. Lol.

Do you still notice a difference in sound? I’ve had my Amazon tube for about a month and still haven’t gotten to installing it. Not sure if it’s worth it and hear a slight difference or not. Also, what did you do with the little bracket that holds the cover in place? And what couplings are you using as well? Do you have a link? Thanks!
I run it with a afe filter it is louder , but my afe exhaust wipes that out ... cover is solid without the one connection point. For the 4" couplers , there all the same

This was like one of the first mods I did when I got my truck. Works very well in my opinion but one thing I am not seeing anyone do is removing the real restriction that’s behind the filter itself. This I assume is to straighten the airflow out before the mass air flow sensor. In the corvette world we removed this once we started modifying. Just take a small flat screwdriver and pop the edges out. Then you will really hear it breathing as it idles. The factory ram air set up is kind of hard to beat in my opinion.

It has nothing to do with straightening air flow. It will in fact cause the opposite and create turbulence. That is a back up to the filter to make sure no large objects make it into the engine. Safety screen in case somebody pulls their filter off because it was clogged and accidentally leaves a rag. Or maybe if some critters chew a hole in the filter they won’t get sucked into the motor and cause damage.This was like one of the first mods I did when I got my truck. I removed that intake grill and test drove. Absolutely no change in sound. Quite neighborhood windows down up hill acceleration, nothing. Reinstalled.

Yeah you’re not going to hear anything inside the cab that’s for sure. I was talking about when the hood is open and your by the filter. If I could upload this video you would hear what I’m talking about. The MAP sensor is on the intake the MAFS is just on the other side of the filter. I seriously doubt that screen is there to stop debris from being sucked in because who would run their vehicle without the filter unless you’re at the track trying to get a fast run in. The key is that it’s a restriction of air and if that’s what we are after with the air intake tube, it should come out in my opinion. Anyone know if K&N put a screen in their aftermarket intake? I bet they didn’t

In the factory box with silencer tube ? All 3 afe filters work i chose the blue one lol

Just shop on Amazon.
Enter 4” stainless tube. Need 1 and cut to 14”
It will probably come in a 30” length.
Enter 4 “ silicone couplers. Need 2
Enter 6” hose clamps. Need 4
Remove the factory tube.
Remove air filter.
Remove screen from filter housing if you decide to. Reinstall filter and clamp down.
Use a little lube of your choice to make it easier to slip the couplers on the stainless tube and help with the adjusting.
Clamp it all down and you’re good to go.
The coolant tube can just rest we’re it lands after you remove it from the factory tube.

Anybody worried about heat soak with the stainless tube? Most of the aftermarket tubes I’ve seen on other models are plastic or another material. The one on my TRX is carbon fiber.
When I was shopping for an aftermarket intake setup, I remember some discussion about heat soak being something to watch out for and avoid.

Your 15" aluminum intake tube can heat soak after hours of hard driving, especially since aluminum is a great heat conductor. When it's sitting in a hot engine bay, it absorbs and radiates heat easily — so it will get hot.
But here's the deal:
If air is rushing through it (like under throttle or boost), it spends only milliseconds in the tube. That short contact time means the air doesn’t absorb much heat.
At idle or in stop-and-go traffic, when airflow slows or stops, heat soak can raise intake temps more noticeably.
However, in a turbocharged setup, the intercooler plays a critical role:
It cools the air charge significantly after it leaves the turbo and before it enters the engine — regardless of minor heat gain in the intake tube.

I’d love a carbon fiber one!
Was thinking about the same thing I found 6 inch couplers. Ultimately, I like the idea of Summit racing‘s black wrinkle coated 18 inch aluminum tube better. With 4 inch couplers.
