Silencer tube removal

I found a 4" carbon fiber tube on Amazon but it is 11.8" long. Thinking maybe with some slightly longer silicone couplers to make up the difference and it might work...thoughts from others who have tried?

Its amazing how many people are trying to sell these ebay items for big money on FB and other venues....$50 in parts for $350 lol

I am going to try the carbon tube on Amazon, with 6" length couplers and black clamps. Will report back, was $120 for everything. We shall see, even if the sound doesnt increase much, it will look better than the current stock tube.

Report back once you have installed it and let us know how it sounds and works out for you

how did this work?

All would have worked however I didnt feel comfortable with the final install. On the OEM tube there are support parts to hold wires and tubing that I couldnt transfer over and didnt feel comfortable just letting them hand freely so I abandoned install.

This was like one of the first mods I did when I got my truck. Works very well in my opinion but one thing I am not seeing anyone do is removing the real restriction that’s behind the filter itself. This I assume is to straighten the airflow out before the mass air flow sensor. In the corvette world we removed this once we started modifying. Just take a small flat screwdriver and pop the edges out. Then you will really hear it breathing as it idles. The factory ram air set up is kind of hard to beat in my opinion.
Kind of sound like Darth Vader πŸ˜‚

any noticable changes after taking out the grid? bad idle or something? It's there definitely to straigthen the airflow, you have the same thing on any MAF assembly. The air will be more turbolent. Grid is making it flow in nice stream right to the sensor. So might get some inaccurate reading

I’ve had no issues what’s ever. Idles just as smooth and rip ass when I step on it. Just try it and see and if you feel that you need to, just pop it back in. It’s pretty easy to do. πŸ‘πŸ½

You could potentially use these on the T clamps for the wires and tube

Didn’t someone on Facebook show a silencer delete gave a small hp increase?

I’m sure whatever 1/10th of a HP it might have created when the winds blew from north as opposed to the south , is not worth a penny.

Spend your money wisely elsewhere.
