With premium gas potentially hitting $8+/gallon by Summer, is anyone regretting buying a 14 mpg pseudo Baja truck? No politics, please!

You bet your ass they do !!! The minute the first bomb hit in Iran the price went up 25 cents ! And Cali went up like 2 dollars !! You can't tell me the stations aren't gouging ! Gas is just under $4 a gallon in michigan and $8 in Cali ??????? Their definitely ripping us off !!!!!!!!!!
What you see on the news is always the most extreme. Its not $8 a gal. Right now at Costco with my 5% discount. its around $5.80. At most, non-stupid, gas stations its $6.29 ish for premium. I've noticed Chevrons are always on the higher end regardless of location. And mom and pop stations are on the lower end. With most gas stations franchised, its really up to the owner. But the price per barrel in their tanks was definitely a lot cheaper than what they will be purchasing it at now.

I really don't think they are gouging. In California gas is so heavily regulated and taxed, you can thank the stupid politicians for the crazy prices. Plus gas stations really don't turn a profit on gas, it's on the attached convenience store. The goal is lower or competitive gas prices so they can get you to come into the convenience store while you pump.

Anyone here use Gasoline extreme from Hot shots? I ran their stuff in my diesel and it was fantastic.

With oil up to $113/barrel, premium gas in my area is just over $6/gallon.

Just read analysts predict oil could near $200/barrel by summer if current conflict conditions continue or worsen.

Europe is accustomed to near $10/gallon gas. It’s why diesel & now EVs have been more popular there.

If $6/gallon doesn’t phase you, would $10/gallon make you consider a more fuel efficient mode of transportation?

I’ve already selected a replacement for the RHO & it gets over 20 MPG! It wasn’t THE deciding factor, but it FEELS like a better choice than a 14 MPG, or likely less, ‘27 TRX.

For me, no difference, will just drive one of our other vehicles more frequently....the RHO only has 8k miles on her since December of '24. So we are not piling on the miles. And most of those have come from longer road trips...

We have 3 gas guzzlers, one decent and one miser...the other rarely moves so it doesn't count

Oh and the boat drinks fuel worse than any of them...almost forgot about that :(

You're DEFINITELY not wrong on the boat! And because mine is in a slip at a marina, fuel for me is normally about $2/gal higher anyway. Granted, because it's not being used for on-road transportation I can write off like $.20/gal or so at the end of the year. But the last time I filled up my boat it cost me about $250-$275. And at WOT it's burning roughly 18-20 gal/hr. Then factor in two SeaDoos with 15 gal tanks....

My RHO is my daily and now I don't have a more fuel efficient vehicle as we're giving away our 2012 Equinox to someone a little less fortunate that's in need of a car. Maybe I can talk my wife into a 1991 Honda CRX....I miss that car!

I'd get the Hummer EV truck...I've already done the math. Power here in OKC charging from 11pm to 7am would be $8-$12 to charge from near empty to full, depending on whether or not you have the extended battery pack. So 300-400 miles per charge. Pricier on road trips at $100-120 per charge depending on which battery...but it supports the the 350kw fast charging, so only around an hour to charge.
This is the exact rig I'd get...

My buddy has one and loves it. I'm personally holding out to see what the Scouts end up being

Gorgeous truck & drives great too. I almost got one. The loss of the $7500 EV rebate & crazy GM incentives really drove up lease costs!

If you buy it, plan on keeping it long term & getting your use out of it. They depreciate like anvils. Of course if gas keeps getting more $$, it may actually appreciate!

Hummer EV production ending this year, which won’t help values in the short term.

As for 350 Kw chargers, the are as rare as pubic hair on a stripper. Plan on spending 2+hours at a 250 Kw charger is you do any road trips.
