Digital Key Activation

Good morning! We've got an update for you all. We can confirm that the next launch of Digital Key FOTAs commenced yesterday. There are about 2,000 VINs included in this next launch. We do once again want to caveat that the launches so far are MY25 Ram 1500s with BUILD year 2024.

We have confirmed with our FOTA team that they have started including the VINs that were provided from our forum customers, which is great! We are super excited to hear from any of you that receive this update over the next few days about how it's working and how you like the feature. Please feel free to send a follow up to your initial PM if you have any feedback or issues with usage.

We will keep everyone posted as the roll out continues!

My truck was built in Dec. 2024. I purchased in Jan. 2025. Still no digital key. And I provided Ram Cares my vin number when they first asked. Situation is getting a little discouraging. @RamCares.

Sorry man, I can’t chill on this one. We have a right to be upset and feel fleeced.
Ram is in the wrong here. It’s about principle. They advertised this feature 2 years ago when they did the press release for the truck. 2 years later they should not be beta testing it, much less using paying customers to beta test it.
It’s a simple concept (not to mention a good business practice) to make sure a function works before you advertise for it and charge people for it.
They’ve cried wolf way too many times on this one.

Thanks for the update Hannah, sounds very optimistic! How will we know once our RHO has been updated and ready to setup? Will the Uconnect app be updated or our trucks or both? I keep checking the app to see if the digital key tile appear

Hello! I have some instructions to help with recognizing when both your vehicle and app are ready to receive the update and how to get started below:

1.) On the landing page, swipe left to navigate to the Digital Key tile on the app dashboard. Tap the Digital Key Tile


2.) In the vehicle, turn to "Acc" or "Run" mode
Tap Start Pairing in the app

3.) Click Continue


4.) On the Head Unit:

Tap Apps → Phone → Digital Keys


5.) Select Add Owner Key
The prepopulated key is for the NFC Card, which has the same abilities as a shared key and cannot be deleted.


6.) Place your phone near the NFC reader, located by the wireless charging pad




7.) The phone will begin pairing


8.) Head unit will display "Successful Key Pairing" notification




9.) Tap Continue

Optional:
If owner has an apple watch connected, they may add the key to the watch now or setup can be completed at a later time.

10.) The vehicle can be unlocked by simply walking up to the driver's door or by placing the NFC Card, phone, or watch near the door handle.


Note** You do have you be using the Ram app and the steps may vary if using an Android.
