The 87 guys leave it in the truck permanently, so it's faster and easier to start and drive.
 
I noticed in mine, I don't have to insert the key into the column and twist. It's just a button on the dash.

Just wanted everyone to not lose hope because some of us do have digital key working.

Are you talking about the digital key on the Ram app thats on your phone??

I need to go get one from the dealership. Mine didn’t come with one in the truck unfortunately.
 
Can't wait till I get the phone as key feature! It'll make the startup so much easier. As it is right now I've gotta run my mixture to full rich, advance the throttle to full and then to idle while engaging the primer, then cracking the throttle open just slightly before engaging the starter and hoping I didn't flood or under prime the engine...

... No, wait. Sorry, that's on my 50 year old Cessna. At least I never have to worry about whether or not carplay will actually decide to work when I fly it. 😂

As promised, we are here with some news about the impending launch of the Digital Key to our model year 2025 Ram trucks. The next phase of deployment is a software launch to a small subset of customers and will continue from there in small increments to ensure there are no issues before/during/after deployment.

Since we know this is a highly anticipated feature launch, and we also know none of you here are shy about letting us know if any issue arises, we would like to include forum members in this initial deployment so you can be some of the first access the feature.

If you own a 2025 model and would like to ensure you are part of the first wave, which we anticipate to be deployed by the end of next week (timing subject to change at any time for any reason), all we ask is that you send a private message with the same title as this post, Digital Key Activation, and include your VIN. No additional info needed. Due to the anticipated volume, this will help us keep track of everyone. Please don't expect any additional follow up via that private message besides a 👍to confirm we received your PM.

Our intent is to use this thread to continue posting all additional updates as we receive them. Again, we expect this to be a relatively slow roll out to ensure the best customer experience.

We will be able to accept PMs for VINs until 10/14/25.

After 10/14/25, any VINs received may not be able to be included in the first wave. We do not yet have information on timing for the additional waves.

Thank you all for your support of Ram Cares on the forum so far, and we look forward to a smooth rollout! As with any software-based update, we at Ram Cares will take any feedback you have to provide once the update is received and dispense it back to the software engineers.

EDITED TO ADD: If your vehicle is not already equipped with the initial capability, it cannot be added. We will do a check on VINs as we receive them for the necessary sales code and in the instance your VIN does not have the sales code we will then let you know.

I am not expecting it anytime soon, if at all. Ram Care is full of it on this topic. This feature is used on many brands without issues but Ram cannot figure it out, or they do not want to invest on it. They asked for our vins back in May of 25 and we all been led to belief that the feature will be added soon several times over the last year. We all should be getting the 17.99 we pay a month back.

This afternoon when I started my truck my iPhone popped up asking if I wanted to add my vehicle digital key to my wallet. Was in a hurry and didn’t try setting up. Tried again tonight and pop up doesn’t appear and can’t find anything in my Apple wallet. Still no tile in the Ram App either.

For that moment in time I thought we were there!
 
i've gotten the popup a couple times and then under apps in the truck is the digital key. but haven't figured out if it could work and doesn' t appear so.
