Exhaust Options

Yeah, they clearly don't think theres any (or enough) profit in an exhaust for this platform otherwise they'd have came out with their exhausts like a year ago lol. Sucks. I gave up as well, just going to buy an AFE and call it a day.

I just wish there was more YouTube videos so I could compare them.
I'm working on getting some video of the aFe....just haven't found the time or a good place to do any runs. But I can honestly say after living with it for a couple weeks now....I LOVE IT! Cold start in the mornings....it's gonna wake the neighbors. And it takes a solid minute for it to finally quiet down to normal idle. There is some drone when cruising at highway speeds around 2k-2400 rpms but it settles down and it's not overpowering at all and you can drown it out with music. But when you floor it.....🤤🤤🤤 And the fart before gearshifts is even more pronounced. So far I have zero regerts!

I went with AWE 0FG fatback with gloss black tips. Sounds great outside. At city speeds you really can’t hear it inside although it sounds good outside. Get on it and you’re rewarded. And the biggest thing to me is running 75 on interstate no drone that I can hear.
I want one that's really loud. I thought I was done with loud exhausts in my 20's...

I'm 35 now, so I'm simply considering this my almost-mid-life-crisis 😂

That's exactly what I'm looking for, thanks for sharing your thoughts on it! I'll be looking forward to seeing those videos. Are you the red RHO on YouTube who recorded the short video of it idling on the street? If so, I've seen your video and it sounded awesome.

I should have my truck before the end of this month, I'm considering just ordering the exhaust now.

Yep that's the one. Sort of a teaser I suppose. I'm hoping to be able to get more maybe this weekend. It won't be anything close to some of the other videos out there as I'm definitely no videographer and don't have high-end gear and software to make videos. Just an iPhone, a GoPro (old af now) and a tripod. I have an audio recorder to but no software to sync everything together. But I should be able to shoot everything with my GoPro then stitch it all together using the GoPro software on my phone.

Exhausts are so subjective and so hard to get a good sound clip of...I have the xMOD kit from MagnaFlow and currently running the straight pipe configuration with valves. Cold starts and when you step on it are super loud...in a good way. No drone cruising at highway speeds. Their SPEQ kit is super competitive, it includes more than the competitors (e.g. valves) and in my opinion their quality/craftmanship and brand recognition is superior. The "fact" they are working directly with Mopar says a lot...they are not cutting corners, and their process is dialed. Just my two cents and stating some facts!

I'm 55 and still want LOUD too. But it has ti really sound good.

Does anyone know if Ram is actually going to be releasing a factory exhaust upgrade? Between waiting on this, with teasers that haven’t amounted to much and Borla pushing back their release date every month for the last 7-8 months, I’m growing impatient. I usually love all things Borla but they are really dropping the ball here. If they don’t have a viable option, then they should just tell people who reach out not to expect it anytime soon. When I spoke with Corsa they at least told me they hadn’t started working on an option for the HO. I do like the sound of the Magnaflow Xmod but don’t love the price tag. I’m not big a fan of their SPEQ option. For the record I couldn’t care less about drone. I want this thing to sound like a beast. Drone the $hit out of me lol…just give me something so I can either pull the trigger on one of the existing options or hold off a little longer. Between this and the hopefully soon to be coming down pipes, it should really wake up the character of this platform.

I would just grab an AFE or AWE and be done with it. I was waiting for a Borla too- but at the end of the day, the engine itself is largely what's responsible for the exhaust note, and the different exhaust setups only tweak it so much.

I personally don't think it's worth waiting forever and spending twice the money just to get an exhaust note that is marginally better.

While I'm a huge fan of both, Borla and Corsa clearly don't see enough profits here to develop exhausts in any hurry.

I'll more than happily support the manufacturers (AFE, AWE, etc) that are taking the time and investing and developing parts for the RHO platform.

My Dad always said,

"You can do stuff fast or right. Both are mutually exclusive 99.9% of the time."

R&D is a long, imprecise, and expensive process. It takes time & $$$ to do things right.

IMO: I don't see any need to rush. I'll wait for Borla and Corsa before making any decisions.

I agree with your sentiment but the issue in this case is that we don't even know if we're waiting for a product that will ever exist.

Corsa made an exhaust...Chris Blasius on the Facebook RHO group has one installed. He was the prototype guinea pig...he even said they stopped working on his and he hasn't heard from them in a while.

Or do the Flowmaster XFlow muffler mod and be done with it until something better comes out. $150 for the muff and whatever your local shop charges to swap it.

I would do this in a heartbeat, but I really need something that has a helmholtz chamber to get rid of the drone in the 2k or so rpm range as that where we sit when towing a boat.

For now, it seems that only stock is the way for me. Borla is usually really great at eliminating drone but who knows if they will ever do anything.

Honestly, I don't hear any drone at all anymore. With the radio at a moderate volume, nothing. When you hit the gas, you hear it...but around 2k, not bad at all.
Just did a 44 hour 3200 mile road trip to Cali and back, couldn't hear it.

Tim from Pickup truck & SUV talk should be releasing a video the 25th of what Ram did to his truck. Some Mopar exhaust.

Meh....

If it never exists, it doesn't cost you anything.
If you get upset over it, then the only one upset is you.

It's better to hit your mental "Ignore" and move on.

It's designing an exhaust system, not rocket science. The biggest "r&d" is essentially them figuring out where to put a resonator to eliminate drone lol. It does not take them long at all to create & test prototypes.

I'm being a bit facetious, but it does not take Borla 1.5 years to develop an exhaust system. It's literally all they do, and if they thought there was enough profit, they'd have released the exhaust about a week after the first trucks hit the lot.

What I'm trying to say is: They're not in slaving away in the lab working countless hours trying to design the perfect RHO exhaust. They're simply just taking forever because they don't see $$$ in it. That is literally the only reason why it's taking so long. When there's a hot car coming to the market, Borla releases an exhaust for it extremely fast.

It's why I (personally) am just going to support a smaller manufacturer who is introducing parts to the RHO platform.

Borla is awesome though, and I hope their offerings are available soon!

I definitely hear my exhaust when towing my boat...and probably about to get more as I upsize this afternoon. But even during highway driving, right around that 2200-2400 rpm range is where you hear drone. This morning I had my radio on at a moderate volume and barely heard it at all though unless I put my foot in it to pass someone.

So drone is there....but it's not Godawful

I checked in with Corsa last week or the week prior and they told me January

I imagine the aFe is louder than what I have.
That bit of packing around the XPipe helps I suppose.
