Glad you finally got to release the video..now questions/comments:

Need some drive by and acceleration from outside the truck.

You towed with this..how was it inside the cab..any droning?

What makes this different that what you can buy straight from MF?

Thanks!

Chris

So I’m tracking, other than the laser markings on the exhaust tips - is this any different from the Magnaflow systems that have already been on the market for a while now?

We definitely would love to hear some drive by sound clips and certainly comparisons to factory.

Definitely missed not getting the drive-by clips. My fault on that. I'm not sure on the Magnaflow systems on the market. I linked to the video I did on the stock and included a stock video segment in this video.

@testerdahl My question, is it worth YOUR cash if you had to go out and buy it?

Yes. I said so in the video. I think the $2k exhaust is worth it. I would not buy the $3k version since I'm not really into the customization aspect of that exhaust.

As a side note, the stock exhaust was driving me up a wall towing the camper to Michigan. My lord the drone was awful. When I come home Friday, I'm heading into the Colorado mountains and I'll be doing more video. I'm going to see if I can improve on my video skills to get show the exhaust while towing. The lack of a drone and the bounce-back echo effect off the camper are a real benefits.

Also, I won't be a dumbass and I'll get the drive by done.

Sorry i missed that, I caught the you wouldnt drop 3k part tho. Thanks for the video.

No problem. Sorry if I can off like a jerk, not my intent. I'm just frustrated with myself not doing the drive bys.

I didnt think you came off like that. No worries at all appreciate the feedback. Now to hit up my dealer buddy and see about a price lol

I like the stock exhaust more and more every day. It’s already on the truck. It doesn’t sound any worse or any better than any of the aftermarket options.
I take that back. It does sound better than some of them.

Update from Borla, now it's early October.

I'm somewhat disappointed that for $2K to $3K, Mopar/Magnaflow didn't include a ball joint fitting behind the exhaust tip for adjustment purposes.

Overall, I agree with D&S.

I've been so under-impressed with all the aftermarket exhaust options, I'm to the point of moving on to more important stuff.

100%

The last hope I have is Borla.....and that is looking slim.

At the end of the day, no matter what exhaust goes on this it is still going to be tied to an I-6. You either love or hate the characteristics of that power plant, but the exhaust just changes the volume knob. I guess I don’t anticipate any exhaust is going to change the sound characteristics significantly.

I happen to like the characteristics of this motor. What drove me freaking nuts was the Hemi tick and loudness just to make up for it being otherwise weak. Yeah that’s right, I said it!

I’d like to hear more intake noise. I’d probably like a bit more sound at low idle (thanks to those passive valves), but overall, I’m a fan. I absolutely love the burps between gears, especially in Baja, and feel like you can already hear me from a mile away when I get on it. I love it!

I know it will never burble and roar like a V-Motor, but I've heard some kick-ass aftermarket exhausts on I-6 BMWs.

If I'm going to shell out $2K to $3K, the "music" needs to be on point....

THIS^^^^^^

I have heard some amazing B58's which for all purposes, is what we have in the truck. Fully agree with you @eltaco we know its an I6 and also know even for what it is, can sound even better than an already good stock exhaust.

And through different methods you can have a completely different sounds from the same engine. Look at the bundle of snakes on a GT40, either small block or big block.

Then mufflers, A flowmaster sounds vastly different than a glasspack...then go from an H-Pipe to an X pipe.....a tremendous amount can be done to change the sound from an identical engine.

Side note, I laughed out loud at the Hemi tick :ROFLMAO:

That’s fair.

Once upon a time, back when I used to do real engineering, I designed and fabricated a matching intake and exhaust system for a 600cc sport bike engine. I’m far from an expert, but definitely have an appreciation for how those aspects can be tuned to change performance characteristics of the engine. What I didn’t gain was enough trial and error to know how to affect sound characteristics.

Exhaust sound is such a personal flavor. I’ve run a lot of 600 and 1000cc sport bikes that sound unbelievably awesome to my ear. I also owned a Ducati 929 that I absolutely hated the sound of. I also think Harley’s sound awful, most notably when rev’d uncontrollably at a stop light. Might be hard to find another customer with similar appreciations 😂

Hemi tick… man that freaking drove me nuts. I actually brought mine in on account of this and got told that was how they’re supposed to sound. How that engine has such a rabid customer base, I’ll never understand.
