INEXPENSIVE 6 Piston Brake Upgrade

here is an 18x9 Weld Ledge. Thinking this should be good with 18s for sure mounted up.

if you ever have a chance, check with an 18" vossen!

Vossen and the Enkei have the most amount of clearance for popular 18s on these trucks. Right now I only have 20 inch vossens here.

Mine just arrived as well! Initial impression on fit/finish is i'm pleasantly surprised - they feel very high quality. My only concern is that the pads appear quite aggressive, so i'm hoping they aren't super loud and dusty - but we shall see. 2nd pic is a factory replacement EBC pad on the right for comparison.

I'm gonna work on pad stuff in the background here shortly!

any clues on the calipers who manufactures them for RC?

Pardon my ignorance, but genuine question:

It appears to me the surface area of the big brake kits pads are not much larger than the OEM size at all, maybe a guess of ~10% more at most?

I was imagining there would be a much bigger difference. I (potentially mistakenly) thought this was the biggest factor in why big brake kits are more effective.

Do the extra 2 pistons make an additional difference? Are the rotors themselves bigger? I'm assuming the pad sizes are identical to the higher priced kits as well, so I guess this question isn't specifically referencing this kit- but just big brakes in general.

doesn't rho have 1 or 2 pistons per caliper? and yes definitely a difference when there is a force from one side and isn't spread accross the whole pad.. plus 6 piston will remove the heat way better

edit:
it has 2 .. so 2 pistons from one side vs 3 pistons on each side, you can imagine how much better it will brake with the same size rotor

Will 17's fit with these? That would get me on board

Absolutely not :(

A guy on the TRX forum tried to gather up a group buy to do a 17 inch conversion but I don't think there was too much interest.

Please don't argue about rotor direction, Just a quick test fit.

They unfortunately do not clear the Enkei RPT1's :/ The Weld Ledge clears just fine as well as several other wheels I tried that we had here. Going to put my thinking cap on here.

Also working with EBC on pad information, initially the dimensions were close to a R35 GTR but they are just slightly different.

Did you try stock wheels? If you posted already sorry, I didn't see your post.

First impressions with actual braking performance vs stock?

Got my kit here as of 5 minutes ago.

First round of info

Rotor is 14.8 Inches weighs 24.1
Center hat is aluminum
Brackets are steel
Caliper weighs 12.4 pounds

More to come

Stock Rotor 32 lbs
Stock Caliper with Pads 25
What is the stock rotor diameter? I wasn't clear if these are bigger brakes (rotors) or just more pistons in the caliper.

How are the brakes working out and how hard was the install?
