What's new

is a Direct connection option or higher horse power HO Hurricane engine coming?

That's really what the majority of us want. Just enough to wake the truck up and put us over that 600 hp mark. I believe the forged internals on the HO are good us till 1000hp , but the ZF starts to cut the torque output way before that. I think a 50 to 100 hp tune , including a transmission tune wouldn't hurt the longevity of the powertrain
Pretty spot on with this. 100hp tune that wakes the truck up and maybe helps a little off the line. Would be great if they could reduce some of the turbo lag, too. Let's face it....at the end of the day these are still trucks. And I use mine as such. I won't go any farther than a tuner myself, simply because I don't need it. AND......I have another "toy" on order that will scratch my go-fast itch a LOT better than the RHO. With any luck I'll have it by December. Currently waiting for an allocation and then a roughly 10-12 week build time. Includes the digits S58.....

Have you tried a roar pedal (or something similar) to help it off the line?

I have not. I'm sure it would help some I just haven't really been that inclined

I only ask because when I have heard people mention it being slow off the line and turbo lag, that its not actually turbo lag it's the throttle body opening slowly due to the truck being drive by wire.

I mean I've still hit multiple 4.7 0-60 times....just feels like it takes a second for the boost to really kick in, even being launched.

If you are at a dead stop and slam on the gas the truck takes a second to get moving. Is that the turbo lag you are talking about? Or do you mean you are already cruising and you slam on the gas and it takes a second for the boost to kick in?

I had it for my Charger and it certainly helped it off the line, but on the flip side, it also threw some codes and caused limps a couple of times. I can only speak for my Charger but I won't rush to put it on my RHO with the issues it caused.

Ill most likely get a cat6 for the pedal response. Fingers are crossed for a DC tuner but I'm not holding my breath

Already did lol. That's what I mean don't count on a DC tune. The cat6 is a simple and easy install and instant results.
I have a feeling I'll do cat 6. I'll wait for sema to see what they say. I'm hoping to have my rad down pipes installed in October. I'll enjoy those for a month before I dabble in the electronics

Wouldn’t the addition of aftermarket downpipes make you interested in something like a jb4 for a custom tune in the future?

It took about 5 min of looking back at all the past posts to realize get the cat6 now and not waste time waiting on a DC tune.
I honestly think that if DC markets anything it will be the cat 6 re-branded and more expensive.

I find it very hard to believe direct connection would use anybody’s piggy back module. There is no evidence of them ever doing that for any vehicle in the past. It’s so much easier and safer for them to just sell a reflash module that actually re-flashes the control module.

I find it hard to believe they’ll do anything 🤣

No. Not looking for a crazy aftermarket tune. Cat6 seems conservative enough. Plus I don't have access to anything over 91. Only a couple gas stations in town that have e85 and only 1 with 101oct

I actually think they most likely will. Don’t know if they’re gonna cap it at an even 600 or go to 616. I see both of those numbers appealing to their marketing team. The big question to me is what will the torque numbers be. They very well may hold it where it is just due to the transmission. They may not be interested in increasing line pressure. If I’m honest with myself I’m more interested in building power sooner than total peak power.

Guess like all the other times, we will wait. And this time maybe see?
