New info on 98 mph top speed.

Ok just hit the pedal to the metal earlier today and I can confirm I was able to easily surpass 98mph… this after having my truck serviced at the dealer two days ago .

I’m going to say, knowing RAM, I have a hard time believing that this is actually true long term . It’s more believable that an incorrect update went out to some of you who are impacted. I can smell lawsuits otherwise … I mean come on , in the current political environment, it’s all about less restrictions, drill baby drill , why the hell would they wanna neuter the truck at this point.

The part you didn’t read or possibly glossed over is the fact that my retention manager, the same lady I’ve been dealing with for months finally came out and flat out told me this won’t be fixed, it’s the new top speed moving forward, and offered me $3500 hush money.

So while I’m hopeful this is still temporary, that’s not what’s being communicated from the manufacturer themselves……

Could be they are trying to get away from the optics of encouraging people to break the law. To be fair, launching 0-60 and trying for 1/4 mile speeds up to 118mph on regular roads is illegal. They are probably covering their ass...especially with all these bullshit street takeovers and racing happening a lot more.

So you think when they bring back the trx they aren't going to talk about how much faster it is and it does 0-60 and quarter mile? You think they're gonna talk about how eco-friendly and safe it is? Lol no way.

All car manufacturers do this. Its how they sell cars. Corvette zr1 1000 plus hp and they market its performance figures. Every car company does this. Ford. Chevy. Dodge and the euro companies.

Something weird is going in with the rho. This is purely speculation on my part but im guessing maybe the rho is too good and too close to the performance figures of the trx. If they plan to bring the trx back as a 26 model and its the same old hellcat engine then the rho and trx and too close in price and performance. Who the hell knows. But its weird.

I'm not saying you're wrong...just saying it could be the optics. I suppose we will see how it plays out...and IF the TRX makes a comeback, we shall see how they market it.

Can’t imagine it has much to do with law breaking. Any car with a governor higher than the highest speed limit in the US would face that problem then.

Not to mention going out of your way to neuter basically the only performance driven vehicle in the Chrysler line up right now (TRX not back yet, Charger technically axed until the gas version comes out).

So just seems like a horrible hill to die on, in trying to limit the top speed of the RHO.

Okay, after reading all this craziness this week, I decided to see whats up.

1) I hit 105. Lifted off after that, seemed unnecessary to push it further.
2) Here are the UConnect sreens showing 510 ish peak torque, and only 380 ish peak HP, second screen showing what looks like to me somewhere in the neighborhood of 28-30 PSI
3) Yesterday I raced a Gen 3 Raptor (In Mexico of course) and absolutely smoked it. Not even close.
4) Just happened to race a TRX today (Also in Mexico) and he pulled VERY slightly on me. I mean so slightly that when we both lifted off the gas, my front bumper was where his bed and cab meet. Didnt even get 1 car length on me by almost 90mph. AND, my launch could have been better.

I'm not convinced the power figures are ACTUALLY reduced, rather, something strange is goin on with how it is displayed.

Had an oil change, alignment, and rear diff fluid change at dealer yesterday. Service advicer explained they were not aware of the trucks being "limited."

I took the truck out today. Petal to the floor around 45mph and could not get over 400hp on dash. The throttle response feels slower. Pedal feels heavier. Not as fun to drive....wtf

I did the same. Took it in to Ron Carter CDJR & asked around while getting oil change. They said they had no clue what I was talking about. I went straight into Houston and floored it and got it up to 108 before letting off the gas. I didn’t read the performance pages but was more curious if I’d be capped at 98. Seems to drive normal to me? I’ll keep checking it out as y’all have me super curious. Thanks for the all the info btw, y’all are amazing how you find this info and alert the other RHO owners. Tight community for sure!

I've had three oil changes at the dealer and everything is fine. They don't typically flash the PCM for oil.

Yeah they have too much to lose..Im sure they will get it straighten out sooner than later. All the owners on this forum rallying together should be enough to create a big headache for them…IF any of this assumptions are true
