I genuinely feel bad for you guys. I mean I'm glad Stellantis is finally working on a fix but it needs to happen ASAP and be a top priority for their software engineers. Not a "we'll get to it when we get to it" kinda thing.....

Do we NEED to go more than 98 mph? Probably not....but a Lamborghini doesn't need to go 200 mph either and you can bet your ass if they were limited to 98 owners would be pissed and VAG would be on it like a fat kid on a cupcake

I’ll preface this with saying, many people have posted about do we actually need to go faster than 98 and my answer is a resounding YES! I’ve refrained from posting until there was a solution but, I find myself cruising past 100 on most commutes. 66 in NOVA (Northern Mexico) at 5AM has an average speed of 75-80. Passing anyone results in an over 100 mph pass. While I haven’t had the chance to jump my RHO or have any fun off road, I do strongly feel a sacrifice in its power or top speed would have been a detriment to my daily use. Hell, my 2014 Laramie at least got to 104!

I’m very happy there is a fix and appreciate the patience many members had to help push the fix through and prevent more of us from being neutered. Hoping it’s a fast turnaround to get the balls but back on those RHO’s!

An additional point to consider with sports vehicles is that we don't buy them for what we can legally do on public roads.

Sure, my Mustangs and Audis could all hit ultra-illegal speeds (well over 120mph) and my sportbikes can all do 145-186mph. I buy them  because of their performance capabilities, and most vehicles I have owned have seen significant track time, especially the motorcycles.

The fastest I have ever hit on a public roadway (in the U.S., not Mexico) was 156mph in a Chevy Caprice PPV...with blue lights on top. And because it was my police vehicle and I was on my way to a shooting on a rural stretch of freeway. (Btw, the 6.0 LS V8 was great, and my "fight me, I don't care" opinion has always been that the Crown Vic was absolute ass, they're an underpowered, boat-handling dog with a top speed of around 125.)

I have also hit triple digits in personal vehicles for a few seconds at a time to pass slow trucks on winding uphill forest highways with short sightlines; it would be unsafe to pass in those tight windows without the power to do it very quickly.

That’s bullshit. I got an official statement today. Fix is inbound!! I can’t believe we got it done. Thanks to everyone that posted about this and thank you to the Ram P.R. Manager that reached out to me and helped push this along!

Official Statement:

The performance and capability of every Stellantis vehicle are central to our commitment to customers. In this instance, a small number of North American Ram RHO trucks were inadvertently programmed with engine software intended for export models. The software was installed alongside routine updates performed during dealership servicing. As a result, these customer vehicles were limited to a top speed of 98 mph, below the advertised specification for the North American market. While this reduced top speed complies with regulatory requirements in certain international markets, it is not intended for North American Ram RHO high-performance trucks.



Stellantis will issue a rapid service update (RSU) to recalibrate the engine software in affected vehicles. Expert technicians will travel to affected customers to perform the RSU at their convenience. The RSU will update the engine management software and restore the intended top speed of 118 mph. Stellantis will contact affected customers directly to inform them of the corrective action and to schedule a technician appointment.



In the interim, customers may continue to operate their vehicles. As part of our commitment to quality and customer satisfaction, Stellantis will offer a complimentary oil change at participating dealerships to help offset any inconvenience. The company is conducting a thorough review of the technical error that led to the installation of incorrect software on these vehicles.



While the RSU will restore the top speed of North American Ram RHO trucks, Stellantis reminds all drivers to obey posted speed limits and drive responsibly.

What I want to know, is who was the person who first discovered this issue "legally."

I'd bet there are many more people having major issues than are venting on this site.
These issues are NOT run of the mill minor problems.Loss of use for days and weeks and months is not normal.

This wasn’t an over the air update. This was flashed strait into my truck when I had the PCM replaced. I don’t know if I was the first, but I definitely realized it within a day or two. 98 mph happens fast lol

I decided to see if this was adjusted on my RHO because it’s been in the shop. I can not exceed 98 mph. It just sticks there. Has anyone had any success on a buyback. I don’t feel like I have a true high performance truck anymore.

Ram will be contacting you directly
And sending an engineer to fix it. They won’t buy it back. But you can certainly try.

Manufactures don’t just openly admit their product is having issues, unless there is a solution.

Although my truck has been problematic, I’m willing to bet there are more trucks with no issues, than trucks with issues.

How do we make sure we get on this list? I opened a case about this, but RAM customer care won't even talk to me because my RHO is not at a dealership. When I ask for a supervisor, they state they are not allowed to escalate my call and then forward me to the dealership.
