RAM RHO HO Downpipes with High Flow Cats +100hp!

The idle doesn’t sound bad. I’ve personally never been the type to rev a motor in park or neutral so I don’t care what that sounds like. Do you have any drive by or acceleration sound clips to hear it under a load?

No longer have a factory exhaust system.

I added resonators and I prefer that better -4-5 db’s on average

I lean towards mellow and quieter.

If you think the stock exhaust is super quiet and really want to wake up the note. DP’s will do that! 9 db’s louder is a 90% increase in perceived volume under heavy theottle and WOT

If you think the stock exhaust is mellow and would like to hear it more under throttle above 3k than dp’s with resonators is probably the ticket.

If you think the stock exhaust is just about right then you’ll want to add 2 sets of resonators with dp’s to tone it down.

I feel like I have provided a ton of information and data. More than companies with millions of dollars!!
Where’s their dynos?
Where’s their boost curves?
Where’s their AFR logs?
Where’s their db meter readings?

I’d be interested in hearing that. Did you add the resonators to the stock system? Or someone’s aftermarket system.

When you say -4db do you mean -4 from what it was with the down pipes?
Yes
A 4-5 db reduction to the sound of a factory exhaust with fat cats

Which makes it 3-4 db’s louder than an all stock system.

The beauty is you can add a second set
There is room to do so on the stock exhaust.

And little to no impact on performance as it’s straight through

I have a set installed before the “H” in the midpipe.

You DO NOT want to remove the “H” section.

Bad loud noises happen if you do.

It has a pretty big effect on 180-300hz rasp under throttle and sounds poopy removed 👎

Those peaks at 180hz and 220hz are because no H pipe (green) it sounded bad 👎

Cut and relocate the “H” to the slip joint and put the resonators behind it.

Peak, meaning the highest amount stock vs the highest amount with fat cats.

Power under the curve is everything!!!

From 2-3k its closer to 50hp and 70 lb ft

From 3-4k its closer to 80hp and 100 lb ft

With a cat6 the largest gain is over 100hp and 150 lb ft at 3250 rpm

Spool is dramatically increased

It’s a completely different truck now

Its actually responsive at 2k rpm
no I get this, the low rpm gains are significant of course!! and a must for anyone who wants to take the engine power further.. I actually didn't expect that from catted dp..
but looks like all the gains start to fade around 3.3k rpm, so I imagine it's explosive in the bottom but then the limitations start to catch up? If I move the cat torque curve over the OEM cat curve, it's basically same just it happens in lower RPMs. I imagine it feels effortless when you hit the gas, but you have to stay between 2.5-4k rpm for that effect, past 4k it's not much difference. Anytime I looked at any gains graph I wasn't interested how many HP or torque the engine got at 2.5k rpms, always looked where it maxes and then where they meet. Are these assumptions wrong? For example if I look at the RS3 graph I can tell it actually got the gains across the large rpm spectrum and is pretty consistent and I would say ok it gained 140lbft and 100hp.

+45 lb ft of torque to the wheels is not basically the same, just lower. It’s substantial.

It’s a 6200 pound truck….
With 100+ pound wheels and tires…

Torque moves those things.

The truck made 560hp and 660lb ft to the wheels!

It hauls ass!!

I spend 90% of my driving in the 2-4k rpm range

People who drive the RHO don’t complain about the top end…

They complain about the “lag”

That is pretty much gone now, no lag.

I need to do more

My truck has heavy ass 36” tires and i’m at 4700ft elevation so its never gonna be the fastest plus 91 octane is all thats available.

I’ll do some more pulls and see what shakes out though.

I can probably shave a 2-3 tenths though

Will you be making a n install video? Also, how does a cat6 do with the dp? Do the dp increase the cat6 abilities?
 
Nice job on these Downpipes! Any idea if anyone is upgrading these turbos yet with larger compressor or turbine wheels?

Looks like I’ll be ordering these sometime after Christmas. I’m probably the only one who loves the stock exhaust. Sounds good when I open up and it’s quiet when daily driving… which I don’t pass 2k when daily driving. I do love the power increase on your cats.

You mentioned for those that like the sound of the stock exhaust, if we buy your DP, it’s recommended to add 2 resonators so it can be a bit louder than stock and absolutely no drone right?

I have the JB4 on map2 so I should see a nice increase with your cats on

Probably not a video but I do put together fairly detailed installation instructions with my products.

The Fat Cats pair really well with the Cat6 and allow the turbos to spool faster and harder. The bottom end and midrange is dramatically increased compared to that of the Cat6 alone.

The below graph is a boost curve comparison. The orange line is Cat6 alone and the gray line is adding Fat Cats to the Cat6. You can see the vehicle makes more boost pretty much everywhere with max gains of 5.6 psi at 3251 rpm, that is over a 100 hp gain on top of the Cat6 gain.

The combination makes a very responsive truck anywhere in the rpm range and it straight hauls the mail!!

If you like the stock exhaust I would 100% recommend adding resonators. It has zero drone, I just drove to Vegas and back for SEMA and there is no drone at any highway speed. 50, 60, 70, 80 mph it doesn't matter, no drone. My tires are louder than the exhaust cruising. It sounds good WOT and reminds me of my BMW days..

Speaking of my BMW days.... I am pretty familiar with the JB4 and how Terry likes to add boost vs timing like lets say COBB who favors more timing and less boost.

That being said the Fat Cats will work well paired with the JB4 as the reduction in back pressure will allow the vehicle to hit increased boost targets sooner.

You’re not the only one that prefers the stock exhaust. Have no intention of changing it with the exception of maybe adding a couple resonators after DBallz downpipes.
That reminds me. @DBallz do you still have the valves in the stock exhaust on your truck?
