RHO range and MPG

Picked up my RHO Monday night. Left from NoVA to FL Friday with 120 miles on the Odometer.

First 400 miles Friday, horrible rain, lots of stop-n-go, when the rain finally lightened up a bit I picked up to 80 to get to the hotel after 11pm and mileage was in the mid 14s for the just over 400 mile drive.

Day 2, Saturday, Florence SC to Canaveral Fl. 470-ish miles, averaged 16.3. Was a bit higher but had some traffic that dropped me a tad. Flat land and constant speed and leveraging the assisted self-drive helped a lot.
I should clarify, day 2 I kept it set at 75 unless I really had to pass.

8th gear kicks in at 65, at least so far, maybe that’ll change now that I’m getting the odo up to 1k miles. The sweet spot for mileage seems to be in the 65-75 range, anything above that is a death knell to the mileage. Buc-ees in Florence with 3.27 premium (93) on Saturday morning sure was nice for a fill up.

Fuel up #13
Mileage: 5507
MPG: 15.05 Hc
75% Highway with stop and go traffic
Cruise speed: ~75mph

This tank had multiple launches and Highway pulls for intake testing.

Interested in seeing what the next fuel mpg results will be with the intake and normal driving.

Now that we have people picking up their RHOs and driving them in the wild. I want to pose this questions for people that have got their RHOs. What is your in town mpg? What is your highway mpg? What is your computer calculated range? For us TRX owner that are still on the fence it would be nice to know the real world range and mpg that owners are actually seeing with their trucks. We all know how the epa’s mpg never matches what the truck actually gets. I also aware that these trucks haven’t been broken in yet. But first impressions would be appreciated for those are about to get an RHO or still deciding to order.
I have 7100 miles on my RHO , gas mileage around Town is 14.7-15, Highway is 16-17 depending on how much you get on it and boy it’s fun when you do. Range on a full tank full is between 490-500 miles. The catch is here you must use premium 93 octane. Which they don’t tell you up front. Started filling up with 89 and the turbos were hesitant, 93 no problem .

They do tell you up front. Right on your fuel door.

Not a lot of 93 around my area it’s mostly 91 here. Hoping that doesn’t cause any issues when the truck gets here. I’d it gets here after all I’ve read with the tariffs etc. recent order within the past 3 weeks.

I’m at 12.9 MPG, according to the computer. 3100 miles. Mostly highway driving, cruise set on 80. Most of you are better than me!

Since purchase I am averaging 12.7mpg. Only 700 miles or so as of now. So far on 3rd tank I am getting 15.8mpg.

All 93 by me and no 91... Stuck paying $4 and some change per gallon...

Only 92 in OR and WA, and stuck paying over $4 too. Gotta pay to play I guess, its worth it.
Not complaining... But i definitely use my speedway rewards for the .11 cents off per gallon... LOL...

I’m stuck paying almost $5 for fu$king 91 in CA

Top Tier Premium 91 with boosters here. Coming up on 3k miles of city, hwy, freeway, mostly flat, always warm and some mountains, crawling, dirt n such and averaging now 11.5 MPG after thorough break-in. I have managed to get it up to 15 mpg on some stretches, but I always average out to 11.5 in the end.

I've kept my receipts, and tracked it better than I've ever done, and I have noticed some things that could trick me into thinking I had better MPG like:
-Sometimes it will click full and within 30 seconds it'll do it again but still has ~5gal left in her belly
-If I wait less than 40 seconds to top off it will generally take less than half gal more BUT if I wait over 40 seconds (40-50 seconds) then it will generally take 1-3 gallons more.
My computer mpg estimator is finally giving me accurate mpg data back but in the beginning it was waaaay off with readings of 14-16 mpg that were real-world 7-11. I now suspect I've never gotten much less than 11 but was tricked calculating 7's with early pump shut offs, but who knows.
-My truck will show or stay at full for an elongated period so it is easy to be 2-5 gal light and not know. The miles it takes to go from full to 3/4 is not near the miles it takes to get from 3/4 to 1/2, etc.

All things considered I do love the truck, minus the uconnect nonsense that needs updated or likely will be a warranty replacement here soon. I can live with 11.5 but would be far happier with 14mpg average for my adventure'n needs.
How is your beast hanging in there? Im sure you are loving the truck!

Fuel up #14
Mileage: 5958
MPG: 14.9 Hc
70% Highway with stop and go traffic
Cruise speed: ~75mph

4th fill up this morning... Just broke 1k miles... Overall avg 12.7mpg. Was able to get 17mpg on trip to mother in laws today.

Final trip report. Down and back from the DC area to central FL. Over 2100 on the ODO showing now, left with 120ish on the ODO after picking up my son’s best friend.
Myself, my wife, and two “not small” 15 year old boys in the back, plus my bed stuffed with luggage and supplies for the rented condo. (Not heavy, but full)

Already posted about the way down. Trip home, really made it a point to use self-drive as much as possible, kept it set at 75 unless speed dictated less. Even with the hills picking up in Virginia, my final tanks were showing 17mpg even with very steady cruising. (Flipped the EZPass and took the HOT lanes to avoid the stop-n-go on 95 northbound)

75 shows 2k RPM even, and I suspect if I was doing more “local” highways in the 65-ish speed range I could get a bit better. Not an eco-warrior, but interesting to see what you can do if you are careful. Filled up yesterday at Wawa with 91, it’s been 93 everywhere else, but now am parked for the week driving the wife’s commuter car as we we share that during the daily grind…

Glad to hear you had a great and uneventful(Ram related) trip.

That is impressive, we are averaging 11.5 mpg but its mostly city driving. :)

I am way more similar to these figures than some of the higher mpg's people are reporting. I cant make sense of it. I am not super concerned but i would think at 70mph cruise pretty flat hwy i would think it would be 16+ or so... I also see less mpg in a.m. when cooler vs my afternoon drive home when warmer. Not a mpg efficianado but seeing vast difference from what i logically would think. 1k miles and 12.5 overall right now. I am 30% city vs hwy.

Is what it is i guess...
