RHO range and MPG

Averaging 11.7 overall with 3,100 miles to date. 50/50 mix of driving. Hoping she does better at some point, no CEL’s so far.

I must drive like an old man. Seems like no matter what mix of city/hwy I do, every tank ends up between 14.5-15.5.

Just broke 500 miles and headed out on first road trip from Tampa area to Orlando on I4. We got back yesterday. With highway and local driving we got 14.3. I really took it easy on the engine for the first 500 miles.

From the time I picked it up until about 300 miles I was averaging about 12.5. Since then I am 15-15.5 with just over 1000 miles on it

First 1000 miles averaged 12.6 mpg. Last 600 miles averaging 13.4 mpg. I'm shocked it's gone up because I installed the MRT Extreme around 1000 miles on the clock, and I feel like I'm getting into it harder just to hear the noise.

You guys are making me feel better about my TRX purchase and backing out of my RHO! I'm on my third tank since getting it back home and I'm at 13.3 mpg. What I have realized is that unless I hit the brakes and accelerate back up to speed for no reason (there aren't many lights), it's tough to not get "good" mileage on my commute. Other than coming out of my neighborhood, it's all 45-65 mph speed limits with only a few lights on my 20 mile (one way) commute. Having said that, I'm guessing I'd be one of the 16+ mpg guys with an RHO on that kind of commute.

I also think it depends a lot where you live and gas type and many other factors. I never seen anything close to 12mpg on my trx unless I took long trip. My rho is around 13.6-14.8 last 4 months. During long trip 800 miles one way managed 15-16. My 22 5.7 hemi was always 14.8-15.5 between fill ups so it makes rho look good considering it was slow as h...

True... My hemi Ram was always in the 14 to 15 range unless all hwy long trip. Filled that thing up every 4 days like clockwork.

Right around 14 mpg at 650 miles. I am always surprised by how this truck avoids utilizing 8th gear -- even going downhill at 65 mph. What has made a big difference for me is making sure that the active gear displays on the dash even in drive. I then slip the shifter over into sport and pull it back to get 8th gear. If I didn't do that, I'd sill be getting 12.8.

I'm at 3200 miles, and 12.8 mpg. I was at about 11.8 over the winter, and started creeping up, but now I'm steady at about 12.8. 80% highway/20% city. I had hoped for better, but I still love it!

Can you not just upshift the paddle and have it change?

On my first road trip I would just lift my foot off the pedal the RPM’s would drop add a little gas and it shifted to next gear. It would hold that gear with lower RPM. I got 14.3

Shifting with paddles puts you into "manual" mode meaning you'd have to hold the right paddle to get back to auto.

Six one, half dozen the other. I've learned to just gently pull off the throttle to convince it to drop to 8th and then it stays while cruising

Understood. Figured it may be similar to the Raptor where it does go into manual mode, but reverts back to auto if you don't continue using them.

I am paying $3 for 93 in Florida.
Proof or its not even real life... LOL... JK

As long as Im not paying $5 per gallon im good. Crazy how were are conditioned at this point to think $3/gal is ok... LOL
