Turbo/wastegate actuator rattle!

Aside from the spring - I think this is going to require an ECU calibration to fix. Reminds me of the Audi RS3. The flapper is just far enough off the seat to allow the puck on the wg to rattle against the housing. Needs a tune!

Dealer said it was a bad weld after trying to tell me everything was normal.

It really is insane. The last time my truck was towed in I had a 2 week old baby at home and still had to literally beg them to give me a shitty loaner for my 90k dollar truck that they didn't even fix.

That rattle/noise drove me crazy. I'd drive down an alley and my car sounded like a POS. I had them install the larger/upgraded turbos. I'm now pushing 900hp

I was offered new turbo from the dealer, but nothing seemed to have changed and no guarantee that it would fix it, so I opted not to. But I hear the “hang a spring off the actuator arm” trick works.

We’re running those springs. They “help” but the noise is still there. Planning to bring the truck in once it’s closer to getting out of warranty for the turbo replacement

I believe the springs being constantly stretched and going through heat cycles caused them to be less effective. It’s a bandage “fix” at best

I think it’s shitty metal they use for the rods. It’s the exact rattle that happens on the Turbo 4 from Stelantis.

The fix is a bearing on both ends and a rod made from titanium.

Yea the tolerances are definitely too big. I’m sure they factor in some expansion room because you’d rather them move freely than bind. But it’s obviously not right to have as much noise as some of them make.

My other idea was shimming the rod with some very small shims, but that may still not do it
