Digital Key Activation

Love the digital key but you have to change a few settings in your phone so your truck doesnt keep showing in range from inside your house. SMH. Never easy.

My digital key just showed up. I had not emailed anyone but did give my VIN to RamCares months ago. My truck is a late 2025 built 2026 model year

UPDATE: I waited 18 months to get my digital key. Had it 2 days. No bueno for me. If you have a Samsung phone, I have the S25+, the digital key function is a pain in ass. The digital key itself has to go in your Samsung wallet. It automatically switches on your Bluetooth and the wallet constantly sends you messages that your key is in range even if youre sitting in your house. The fix is to disable your UWB (ultra wide band) connection. But you need it to open your truck without touching your phone on the door or putting your phone on top of the wireless charger for an NFC connection to start the truck. Another fix from the constant truck in range message is to turn off passive entry. But that again makes it so you have to touch the door. I live in a 3000 sq ft single story home and no matter where I am in the house i get the truck in range message. So I have to turn uwb off in the house then turn it back on on the way to the truck. Along with Bluetooth. I would rather just carry a fob in my pocket and do nothing. I keep the fob in a Faraday bag in the home so as not to wake up the truck. I dont know if Apple is like this but its not convenient on a Samsung. AT ALL. Unpaired, final answer.

Wow, Apple handles the car key proximity in a silent passive way. Very seamless. Have you tried deactivating digital key notifications under notification settings for google play?

My iPhone doesn’t do any of that, it just works. Since I got the digital key 2 weeks ago I haven’t used a fob at all, strictly my phone and no issues.

I have a feeling the digital keys are more aimed at iPhone than Android users.

I just took in my 2025 ram rho to the dealership and asked for them to install the TSB 08-340-25 to update my truck so I would be able to use my digital key i did this on last friday I went to pick it up and i parked at dealership and I tried getting the app to show me the digital key options it didnt work I tried the settings on the infotainment it didnt work , I called the service dept rep to come to assist me , once he came I told him my situation and he left for 20 minutes and came back ,he said he went to 2 different electrical technician that worked on my truck and he said that even though I have the TSB 08-340-25, which everyone on the forum says this will work ,the technician told the rep even if I have the TSB 08-340-25, the digital card would not work that these cards were supposed to be removed from all vehicles and that this will never work . So im not sure what to believe, are we going to have this feature or is this feature obsolete for the 2025 rho? If anyone has or had the same issue please share, and if you had it resolved let us know how . Thank you in advance

Ram card is different than the digital key. Digital key is a tile on the Ram app. You get a physical card that you can use to open the truck and drive it putting the card in the wireless charger spot (NFC connection). Card is different from digital key. I took delivery of my truck in Jan. 2025. I never had the digital key tile on my Ram app. I contacted Patrick Brady from Stellantis. Email is above in the post. He did research and had an update to the Uconnect system sent to me over the air. Next day my Ram app updated and I got the tile. I never got the TSB update from the dealer. Turns out, the digital key using the Samsung phone sucks. So I dont use it. Waited 18 months, used for 2 days. I carry a wallet and my phone so carrying the fob isnt that big a deal. If you have an IPhone, youll love it. Android phone, not so much.

To add what @yoda33073 mentioned…I do not believe getting the TSB will automatically enable the digital key with your phone through the app. Like the wise-one wrote, that needs to be enabled from RAM. Email them and I bet you will see it soon.

I am kind of in the same boat. iPhone user here, but I work a lot in my garage. On average, I am in the garage 5-6hrs/day. My phone is now constantly waking the truck up. If I walk by the truck or if I simply open my phone, the fuel pump starts priming and there is a faint electrical hum with some lights that kick on. My fix was to go the Ram Key in phone wallet and turn off passive entry. It seems to have completely stopped the constant back and forth pining between the truck and phone. I can still use the phone for NFC, like I can the factory key card, or reengage passive entry when I am ready to drive the truck for the day. For me it is still worth it to use the phone and not be fumbling with a key fob or key card.

Slip the key card in your phone holder behind the phone and you're still using your phone.....
