Digital Key Activation

I mean yea it’s definitely a first world problem that is 110% not required. But the fact is these trucks climb over 90k, if it’s advertised as having something then some of that 90k was to pay for that thing.

Could you imagine going to the store spending so much on groceries then them tell you that the juice and other shit isn’t available after you paid? Is it required no but dam it I paid for it..

I know I'm gonna' get some hate for this but...I can't beleive all the posts for this issue. I mean honestly...is the digital key worth almost 1000 posts? Seems like a lot of butt hurt over a feature that isn't even needed in my opinion. When I get my 27' in a week, if the digital isn't working...I guess I'll just have to use a key fob...like 99% of every other automobile owner. Guess what...I'll still be able to start my truck and have fun with it even without the digital key. If the digital key was a selling point on this truck for you, you should have bought a cyber truck. Go with a tech conglomerate who also makes vehicles if you want the best working tech. Life is short & sh*t happens...don't sweat the small stuff.

No the digital key isn't a necessary feature. But sometimes it might be nice to not have to have my key on me.....like when I'm going to ride jet skis. Even still it's not about the feature at this point. It's the fact that not only was the truck advertised over two years ago to include it....it STILL doesn't and RAM/Stallantis is giving us all the finger and a great big "fuck off" after promising to fix it and even going as far as to post a thread of their own making on a privately owned forum asking for VINs, etc. of those customers that still wanted/needed it. It's about shitty customer service by a brand that obviously doesn't give a rat fuck about owner loyalty and treating their customers/owners with respect.

Not that I really care at this point because Stellantis has been gaslighting (I hate that term) us for nearly 2 years now but....how are these 2026 models getting the digital key feature BEFORE all the 2025's have it?

@RamCares You guys suck at this stuff! Y'all asked everyone to post up VINs etc many months ago and STILL many of us have nothing. No correspondence, no answers and obviously no fucks given. Too busy trying to roll out the "latest & greatest" (TRX, Rumblebee, Challenger) and completely ignoring the owners you owe shit to. I've stayed quiet and kept my mouth shut and tried not to make waves, all the while HOPING Stellantis would do the right thing. But obviously the corporate greed has taken over and customers no longer matter as long as you can keep selling shitty half-ass built vehicles. As much as I love RAM (this is my fourth on top of other FCA vehicles).....My next one Won't Be one.....

100% fact. I submitted VIN info in Oct. '25 and subsequently emailed the Stellantis rep in June, who stated he'd assist. 3 weeks later, he asked if anything had changed with my situation, and when I stated "no", he replied that he'd check on my VIN and follow up. Not a word since.

If it wasn't an available option on an $85k-$90,000 truck, it shouldn't have been advertised as something included to help sell a vehicle by a manufacturer that just ended the 2nd quarter with $50.6 billion in revenue.

Nah bro, your analogy is flawed. I know everyone places different values on things. A better analogy would be that you all went to the butcher shop and they hooked you up with the best cuts of meat at a great price. You also picked up a pack of gum on the way out and found out you were missing piece of gum when you got home and now you’re bitching about the missing piece of gum even though you’re full on porterhouse steak.

Missing the point, its akin to my issues with the horrible hands free driving assist. Can I use the truck without it, of course I can. But if I'm paying close to $100k for this thing and its a feature Stellantis uses to differentiate the RHO from everything else and it just flat out doesn't work, I have an issue with it. In both cases its just lousy, half assed engineering. I think a lot of it can be traced back to Carlos Tovares' insane gutting of engineering staff and Antonio Filosa is trying to turn the ship back around. In that case Stellantis needs to at least acknowledge the issue and come up with a plan. If they just clam up and refuse to acknowledge the issue, that's even worse.

Listen, I get it. I don’t think there is anyone on this forum that doesn’t want what they paid for in regard to this truck. I also think your reason for riding jet skis without a key fob makes perfect sense. However, we’re talking about tech. I’m a nurse who works in IT to train new nurses and docs how to use all of our IT features for documentation and treatment of patients. Shit goes wrong on the regular with devices and tech at work. How many times have you had an app not work on your phone? It sucks, but it’s just the nature of things. I think it’s great that RAM obviously cares enough to create this thread and try to help where they can. Having said that, this would be my lowest priority if I were RAM CEO. I would just say ‘fuck it’ and issue everyone a $50 rebate (because no one knows the line item cost for the digital key) and cancel the digital key to eliminate the headache on my end.

I completely get your point and I would be up someone’s ass daily if the hands free driving wasn’t working. However, hands free driving and digital key are not apples to apples features.

And the suggestion to issue everyone a rebate of some sort has been made more than once. But nothing on that, either. And I respectfully disagree with you that RAM actually cares. Does it need to be high priority? Sort of....yeah. You have people that have owned these trucks for coming up on 2 years now that still don't have an advertised feature. At this point it's false advertising. They need to prioritize getting THESE trucks right before moving on to something else like the Rumblebee or revamped TRX. Yes...they created a thread. And that's great! But there's no follow-up on it. So what does that say about how much they "obviously care"? Just enough to be able to say "oh we're working on it".....but not enough to stand behind that statement.

Honestly, I don't care one way or the other about the digital key. My card key works and I keep my keyfob with me anyway. But between all the little electrical gremlins we've had with these trucks (I'm on my 4th set of batteries since April 2025) and features that have been promised and still not yet delivered.....I'd say we've more than earned the right to be a little miffed at Stellantis over something as simple as a digital key

Off topic but not....my wife's 2025 Grand Wagoneer, which tops the $100k mark, has had the entire fuel system replaced twice in 15k miles and this last time it was only 3 days before the check engine light came back on. Seems Stellantis is working real hard to drive away their fan base these days

So because it’s not a big deal to you, there shouldn’t be any discussion about it? And if people aren’t happy about an advertised feature, we should all go buy cybertrucks? Lol alright man…

I carry all kinds of shit in my pockets for work every day and I really do not want or need a big ass key fob in my pocket. So I don’t, I keep it in a leather case that has a belt loop clip on it and have ever since 2019 when I bought a Laramie. It’s a nice looking case, black with red stitching. The problem is I have had the belt clip fail multiple times because of the type of work I do and luckily I have noticed when my fob falls to the ground, and luckily I haven’t lost it. So yeah, if I can just have my phone and it work all the same as the fob, I’m all about it.

I’m curious what it takes to make the digital key work. Is it a TSB, a failed module, an OTA update or a certain Uconnect build. I like to know how my truck works and that includes what technology it has in it. So yeah, since this has been an issue going on over two years, yeah maybe it does require 1000 posts.

Did you have the software recall? If so that's probably what your OTA was. I got two in short succession last week. First one was the app tile PAAK and second was the software recall.

its not a uconnect version thing that enables it. i never got a single uconnect version update to get mine working. it was all updates to modules that are not exposed to the end user like SOP3 and R5T etc

here is how my timeline went to get mine working in this order with any and all updates:

Contacted Briana at Stellantis about my issues	July 1
Various back and fourth emails	July 2-July 9
Briana informs me my truck will require TSB 08-340-25 to receive OTA for SPAAK	July 10
Dealer Performs TSB 08-340-25	Jul 16
Receive R5T Update	Jul 29
Receive unknown update that fails to install	Jul 31
Receive 2.25.38-SOP3 update	Aug 4
Receive 2.25.38-SOP3 update again	Aug 5
Randomly check the app and i have the tile(no other updates received)	Aug 26
Paired phone to truck, SPAAK working exactly as advertised.	Aug 27

as you can see i never once received a uconnect update, the trucks uconnect is still factory version.
